You CAN'T use two different size nozzles in the same print!

Is there a slicer out there that has the current capability of printing with different nozzle sizes?

I think someone said prusa slicer can.

What would be nice if there is an option to print the walls in a certain color and the infill in something else (same material). For example fancy Silk+ for the outside but cheap PLA Basic for the infill. I guess you could technically paint it like that?

Seems it is still in experimental mode but this if hopeful news that the slicing engine can handle it.

Slicer might not be set up for using different size nozzles at once.

I’m sure they thought about this. Maybe it will come later.

I’m also no engineer, but for me this also sounds like a software issue. I am wondering however if you can have two different nozzles INSTALLED at the same time. I believe it recognizes a QR code on the nozzle and maybe thats preventing that. But for me that would already be a good alternative to have the ability to single use a different nozzle.

What do you mean by regognizes QR code? You literally just put in the nozzle and input the type in the slicer.

No, thats not what I mean. The hotend/nozzle has a QR code and it is automatically recognized by the camera.

It’s not identified by the camera, to answer your question, yes you can use two differnt nozzle sizes for single color printing.

I concede, you are correct. According to the Bambu website you still can have 2 different nozzle sizes at once, just not for dual nozzle printing.

Says it doesn’t support multiple nozzle sizes for dual nozzle printing so I would infer that you can have 2 installed for single material printing.

Almost as if I just posted the same exact thing. I admit I was wrong on the camera detection.

That’s a leap.

In any case, even if you can install two different nozzle sizes, what’s the point if you can only use one of them?

So you don’t have to swap nozzles when you need to print something with another nozzle size. There are projects I’ve done where I have to switch back and forth between 0.2 and 0.4 frequently so it would make projects like that much more convenient.

Ah, good point. 25 characters

Yeah, that was actually my reason for asking. Although the nozzle swap is quick it supports my inherent laziness.

its clearly just a slicing issue.and not a easy one to fix. i bet they are working on it

I`d assume slicing each nozzle size independently in a similar fashion to how i assume two material types are sliced and woven together …

Yeah, huge ā€œdealbreakerā€. They should have just delayed the release another 6 months to get this one feature fixed.

I would think it would be limited to 2-4 4-6 6-8 due to layer heights etc , so probably not going to be a big feature worth holding out for , plus it wouldnt it be more slicer orientated than printer ( via firmware update)
the printer needs to remember where its been , the slicer where its going

This is honestly the least of my concerns with the H2D. If you can afford the H2D and you just have to print 350mm and not 325mm having two spool of the same material is not a big deal. Also you can do what I did last time when I was printing on two machines but only had half a spool of ABS support/HIPS, i re-spooled some onto a second spool, works in a pinch.
