Z-Axis Crackle/Crunch on movement

I am having issues where the Z-axis movement up and down will cause a crunch/crackle/vibration noise on my P1S. It has about 23 hours of printing time so far, so I feel this is pretty quick for something like this to be happening, and I am a bit worried. I have tried;

  • Cleaning the screw rods
  • Re-Lubricating with BambuLabs grease
  • Inspecting for loose debris
  • Removing printed dust covers/caps on the top of the rods
  • Removing printed dust covers/caps on the bottom of the rods
  • Pressing gently on the plate as I move it up and down

The issue persists and persists in a very odd pattern. I was printing a mouse, and it failed on a layer as it got deep in the bed, which is why I checked its travel all the way to the bottom. I am not sure that was the culprit, but this issue takes precedence. Please give it a listen, and if anyone has had this issue and solved it, I REALLY want to get this unit going! Considering setting up a print farm for our game studio, but I need to get this unit going reliably before the company will spring for more units.

Thank you.

Not hearing anything that sounds unusual.

Have you tried another print that’s not the mouse?

Hum, I never heard this noise before when I had it fresh out of the box, it sounds like a crunch/crackle or vibration on the Z axis, you can hear it when I press up in 3, then back down, then 3 again, back down. Is that really a normal noise?

I have had a few successful smaller prints before, and I had one large Cute Bin print which was good before I tried the mouse, the trickyt hing is maybe it shifted or some other issue happened. The sound itself does worry me since this is such a new printer.

It looks really dirty on the bottom left screw. That could be the sound. Check for filament bits between the screws and the plates.

Hrmm ok, I had protectors so it shouldn’t have been picking any up but I’ll give it another ones over and maybe strip the screw rods with IPA then re-lube. I’ll have to swap over to superlube PTFE multipurpose grease as I don’t think there’s enough provided bambulabs grease. Unless this needs a SUPER thick grease in your experience?

Does it make this sound when printing?

To me the sound happens well before the z-axis motors engage which suggests its more likely to be a noise from the button being pressed on the UI?

I can say for sure the sound is from within the bay and around the bed… potentially the right side but it’s hard to tell from the echo in the chamber, and not the UI button press. The physical button is a nice simple one clacky click, the issue noise in the video is a multiple crackle/vibrational noise of some form but I just… can’t see obstructions of detritis/debris

Blow some compressed air around all of it. ESPECIALLY the top and bottom. If that doesn’t work and there is not sign of dust for plastic debris then I would submit a ticket
