Z Axis Homing Failed and Auto Bed Leveling Failed errors on brand new P2S

I just received a P2S printer, and went through the setup process.

After assembling the printer, I tried to run calibration, with the foam beneath the heatbed left in place, as directed by the instruction manual. This resulted in the printer making a horrible grinding noise as it attempted to lower the heatbed into the foam, and produced a 0300-4000 Z Axis Homing Failed error.

I then used the XYZ Motion controls to manually raise the heatbed so I could remove the foam beneath it, and reran calibration. The heatbed raised and lowered without making a grinding noise, but still failed with a 0300-4000 error.

I power cycled the P2S, got another 0300-4000 error on calibration. Updated the firmware, same thing. Factory reset, same thing.

After turning it off for an hour or so, I tried again, and this time got a 0300-4002 Auto Bed Leveling Failure. I repeatedly attempted calibration, and kept getting 0300-4002 errors.

After leaving the printer off overnight, I tried running the calibration, and got a 0300-4000 error.

I then tried moving the printer to the floor to eliminate any potential stability issues.

After moving the printer to the floor, I hit the Home button on the Motion XYZ menu, then started a bed leveling calibration, which I recorded a video of. This calibration then failed after approximately three minutes, first showing a “0300-4000 Z axis homing failed” error, which was quickly replaced by a “0300-4002 Auto Bed Leveling failed” error.

Is there something I am missing here? I haven’t even put any filament in the printer yet, let alone printed anything with it, so it’s not some purged filament getting stuck somewhere, and the bed seems to have a full range of motion. Any ideas on how to fix this so I can start printing?

Your bed needs to be trammed.

The vid shows the bed dropping further down on the left side (looking at the printer) than the left, then trying to compensate. Tramming should fix you up.

I tried running the bed tramming gcode after removing the build plate as instructed, and it lifted the heatbed up into the nozzle so hard that the z axis screws made clunk noises repeatedly and it left a rather deep dent in the softer heat bed material, and threw a 0300-4000 Z Axis Homing failure.

Also, when tightening the screws to prep for the tramming, I noticed that the softer magnetic plate on the heatbed seems to be misaligned.

Top left — looks misaligned

Top right — looks misaligned

Bottom left — looks aligned

Bottom right — looks mostly aligned, but might be slightly misaligned

I think a ticket to support may be your next course of action. Use the pics and video you’ve already taken and include them. Tell them honestly what happened. They will provide step by step to get you up and running.

The alignment of the magnetic plate does not matter. It will not keep the build plate from registering against the stops.

I created a support case before posting on here, with a hopefully not too egregiously excessive amount of textual recountings, photos, videos, log files, etc. They have gotten back to me, telling me to follow the instructions here and here. I performed both sets of troubleshooting steps, got the same errors (0300-1800-0001-000C, 0300-4000, and 0300-4002) in quick succession when running an auto bed leveling calibration, and am now waiting for Bambu support to respond.

I will update this thread with what went wrong and how it was resolved once I get the issue sorted, so people facing similar issues in the future might be able to use it as a resource.

Well you’re headed in the right direction. They will give you instructions that you may have already done, but they have a script and must follow it. They’re only human and have a language barrier, so have some patience. Good luck and thank you for any attempt to keep us updated.

Move manually your bed up and down (XYZ axys), also check under the printer is there nothing there that can made obstruction.

So, after a couple weeks, I am now successfully printing!

The issue was the Eddy Current Sensor. Support shipped me a new one, and after swapping out the old one with the replacement, my P2S prints like a dream.

03/10/2026 22:40 (Tuesday, T+10 days): Bambu Support sends me a tracking number for my package

03/11/2026 08:30 (Wednesday, T+11 days): Package Carrier picks up the package with the replacement part

WHAT SOLVED THIS FOR ME

Was about to lose my mind and my daughter’s boyfriend noticed that the USB C cable on the bottom was not properly seated (my bad). Plugged in fully and it worked!

Could you give me photo of the location of this USB C cable? Thanks in advance.
