Z-Axis Not Adjusting With Each Print Layer

Greetings,

I have a new Carbon X1 in my lab at work. The test prints came out beautifully, as well as a few other prints with files of different origins. However, an issue has developed with certain prints, where the Z-axis does not adjust its height for each new print layer that is extruded. Over time it does move, but only after several layers worth of material have been extruded at the same Z-axis position. I first noticed this issue when a completed print came out at roughly half of its intended height.
I attempted another print and watched it closely and confirmed this is what was happening. The nozzle just runs through the previous layer, instead of building upon it. I have printed the same part on two other printers using their respective slicers without any issues. Since I’m new to Bambu Labs products, I’m not sure if this is a file issue of some sort, or if there is a setting in the Bambu slicer that is causing this to happen.
There is another issue that may or may not be related, so I will mention it while I’m here. During the pre-print warmup sequence, the print head will crash into the front two corners of the box on either side of the glass door. On one side, it actually hits the glass door head on. On the other side, it runs into the side of the box and knocks the print head front cover off. The calibration runs fine, so I’m not sure what this is about or why it’s even physically possible for this to happen.
Has anyone experienced these problems and determined a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Just submit a support ticket

@jkusailaa8m19 did you ever end up getting a solution, I am having nearly the exact same issues. I was able to solve the print head crashing into the front two corners by reselecting the X1 - Carbon in the slicer. However, I am still having issues with Z-Axis not adjusting.

In my case, it turned out to be settings on the slicer. When you download the slicer, it will include options for every Bambu Labs printer. My print settings were defaulting to the A1 Mini printer. I would recommend going to the printer selection drop down menu, changing your printer to the X1 Carbon, and going to “add/remove printers” option at the bottom of the drop down menu to remove every printer that isn’t the one you have. This fixed the issue for me.

Cool mark the info you just posted as the answer so it can help others please

If you are still having Z-axis issues, you might want to look into a support ticket. I did not have Z-axis issues after the solution I mentioned in my first reply. Are you positive there is no packing foam or packing material anywhere below the build plate? Did the test prints that came with the printer work?

I have scoured the printer for left over packing material as I have seen that solution time and time again. I have found nothing. I can print the Benchi no problem, I will look into a support ticket and double check the slicer settings. Thanks for the help.
