Z-homing failed due to bed position Seems to be a plate issue?

Hi All,

Suddenly getting the error message Z-homing failed due to bed position when I tried to print. The printer would not calibrate and would not successfully self test.

I cleaned the rods, checked the plate to ensure it was where it should be,(Multiple times) but kept getting the error message.

I decided to try a different plate and switched from Textured to cool and now it works. Has the plate got an issue? (Have used it for about 12 months). Thanks for any direction.

Regards

Josh

I had this issue couple of times. It was purged filament near the rear Z rod. The other issue was when I used the bambu lab anti-vibration feet and printer was shaking a lot during the calibrations which resulted in failed self tests. I have removed feet and used upgraded one with squash balls.

Thanks will check the Z rod again, but why would it work with the cool plate and not the textured?

I had the same. Some filament left at the Z rod resulting in the Z-homing failed error.

That’s strange, can’t see why it would be plate specific. Have you tried to switch between cool and textured plate back and fort?

Thanks for coming back. Just printing now on the cold plate, all working. When that is done will switch back to textured. Agree very strange for it to be plate specific.

Ok, Update. Prints on the cold plate worked. I then washed the textured plate, let it dry and performed the self test. It failed on bed levelling.

So it does appear to be plate specific. I have a second X1 that is currently printing and when that stops I will take the textured plate from that and try it in the printer with an issue.

Thanks for the help… What a strange problem

Josh

New Update. I have a bearing raised problem and that is the issue. Anyone know how to fix this? Apart from having to get in touch.

thanks
Josh

Just closing this off. If anyone else has he same issue with the bearing moving up from the plate. The solution is to turn the printer upside down. Use the pully wheels on the base of the printer to move the bed all the way to the top and then press on the plastic around the bearing. It then clicks into place.

If you email Bambu support they will send you a video showing you how to do it.

Thank you for the heads up on the fix. Another one to add to my collection.
