unfortunately, should ≠ does. hope you find a solution soon!
Doing this completely removed the tiny bumps from my PETG HF prints.
Other settings that I changed which may have completely eliminated it (if doing above doesn’t do it), decreasing Other layer speed Outer wall: 80 and Inner wall: 100.I also decreased the Textured PEI Plate temps to 65 for both since it’s suggested that you open doors when the softening temperature = plate temperature.
I have the same issue printing in Vase mode with the 0.8 nozzle, so it’s definitely not retraction related. I dried the filament for 8 hours and made no difference. I have seen this before on other printers when printing with a 0.8 and different petg filament, my guess is it’s a byproduct of pushing so much plastic and it routinely catches the nozzle slightly and leaves a bit. The same filament is fine with a 0.4 nozzle.
These problems with 0,6 and 0,8 nozzle are very common with the stock profiles:

This helped me too with 0.6mm nozzle. Thanks!
Can I get your full settings for 0.8. I have been having a lot of stringing issues with the 0.8 nozzle using PETG. Would love the assist .
That retraction length did the trick. Thank you very much!
The only difference between the left and right profiles was the retraction length adjusted to 0.4 mm.
Were there any other settings that you changed? i.e. temp, max volumetric speed, wall speed, etc…
Using a TZ4.0 hotend and 0.8mm + 0.56mm layer heights and printing PLA I’ve tried combinations of:
- retraction length + z hop when retract, 0.4 & 0.8
- faster & slower max volumetric flow 20mm/s-30mm/s
- outer + inner wall speed decrease
- aux fan speed increase and decrease
- flow ratio changes
None of these seem to remove these zits and pits.
As someone else mentioned, I don’t think this has to do with those retraction settings since I don’t think there is any retraction going on where those pits occur.
I though there would be some pattern based on infill but there is not so I really don’t have any theories on what’s causing it.
I’ll try again with TZ3.0 and the 0.8mm & 1.0mm CHT style nozzles when they arrive in a month or so.
I do not understand how the retraction length can affect that either, but it started working for me after I changed that option as suggested above. I had these issues with both PLA and PETG, and it fixed it in both cases. Did not touch any other settings. I only print big and ugly structural parts with this 0.8 mm nozzle though. It is totally useless for parts that have fine details, small holes, etc. The printer is X1C with Bambu 0.8 mm hotend that I purchased at their web site, for the reference.
This worked like a charm for me as well!! I actually went with 0.8mm retraction and that seemed to work for me as well. Thank you so much for the tips. Now I just need to dial in the rest of these shitty default profiles for the 0.6mm nozzle.
Has anyone else been able to get a good baseline profile for 0.6mm with PETG-HF? Speeds?
