I just bought this P1S with AMS two weeks ago but since 4 days ago have this issue with all the filament from bambu, elegoo, esun, sunlu. I have to open the extruder over and over again and kinda frustating. Some said it’s because of the extruder tensioner screw it’s too tight. Because honestly when put them all together I tightened the screw all the way down.
Need advice and thank you in advance.
This is likely a heat creep clog. The overall heat is causing the filament to get soft and squish in a spot where it’s not supposed to be soft and squishy yet.
Try printing with the P1S’s glass door open, or the glass top off. If this fixes your issue, you should look into printing a vented riser, they’re nice and solve this same problem, and let you keep the glass + ams on top.
thx for the advice. Now im trying to print only 30minutes stuff with the top glass open. AMS riser also on my list when I first bought but haven’t printed it because so many variants.
What about the retention extruder screw?
just done 2 short print using bambu PLA basic and still the same problem. Opened the glass top already. Still have the filament squished in the extruder. Tension screw also adjusted not to tight almost touched the housing when put together.
What are your temp settings for the nozzle at?
This is my setting when using elegoo PLA. Got this preset from bambu online models. The reviews is good so tried myself. Sadly no luck.
Have you verified the fan on the hot end is working?
yes all fans are working. just now got the warning as usual “unable to feed the filament into the extruder. When I dissasembly “again” for like 8 times in 4 days, the filament not clogging but theres small amount stuck inside the hot end.
Filament sensor.
If it makes it to the extruder but no farther and won’t load it’s most likely the filament sensor.
As for the screw, it comes from factor tightened so the bottom is flush with the side. Just touch as though hand tightened and stop. Making the screw tight will cause issues.
I would bump that nozzle temp. from 190 to 200. your print bed is fine.
Looks like they have it set to 225 to me.
They do, until you look at the “recommended” range. I’ve consistently found that if I keep that range at or above 200, I have fewer issue. When I get into cheaper filaments, I put it at 210/215. When I run recycled filaments I run it a 220 and am happy if it doesn’t fail due to contamination (bits of metal or desiccant in the filament body that didn’t get caught).
Yes some said it because of this sensor. However this is 2 weeks old printer, I might just bring it back to the store to claim the guarantee.

just out of curiosity, can you please tell us exactly what filament you where using the first time this happened? Please give us the full stats on the filament?
Bambu PLA Basic, Elegoo PLA, esun PLA, Sunlu PLA. Elegoo, esun and sunlu using preset from bambu online model. Bambu PLA basic using factory preset.
OK, I understand that it happened with all of them, but what filament was the very first one to have this happen?
Why am I asking? I was looking at the photo’s again. and it looks like there is some form of particulate embedded in the filament post extrusion.
This information I am looking for is:
- The brand of filament that was being used in the very first event.
- How old was the filament?
- Did you dry it?
- What process did you use to dry it?
- How did you store the filament?
- Was there every and exposure to sunlight that you are aware of?
- What is the relative humidity in your environment?
- Using elegoo the first time this occured
- just bought that day
- I did dry them
- I only use heatbed. 100 for 15 minutes
- I have dry box with lot of new silica gel
- I’d say no to this. Stored inside room with no direct sunlight
- Quite humid. Around 56.
Hope this help. And also dessicant inside the AMS from factory and add some more.
Have you changed the nozzle since this started? YouTube guy “The Next Layer” was doing a long cycle on creating a home recycling system for DIYers and ran into multiple issues with the print head getting contaminate jammed at the tip. after he fished it out (it was a bit of metal) the nozzle worked fine. I ran into this myself with recycle purchased off amazon. it was his video that tipped me off. unfortunately, the nozzle was a total loss.
It’s the filament sensor, nothing more. Replace the sensor (cheap) and go on printing.
