I last post a topic about to add wood stripes on your model, with a modifier.
https://forum.bambulab.com/t/3d-printing-achieves-wooden-grain-no-need-3d-modeling/121021?u=pandan
This method makes the printing time increased to 3 or 4 times the original. The amount of materials used is also 4 times. It also makes printing harder to success.
Now I find a way to improve this, but need a little modeling skills.
In short, the approach to problem-solving is Make a smaller model, and boolean difference with annual ring modifier, then slicing.
This time I use a cube for demonstration
- make a 606060 cube.
- make a 595959 cube, move it to inside the bigger one.
- select the modifier, click mesh boolean-difference
- Subtract from the modifier, substract with the 595959 cube
- waiting… the boolean operation may lead to some mistake, like non-manifold edges, try to fix it, if failed to fix, it also doesn’t matter.
- keep the parameter refered to the last topic, top layer 90degree rotate, fuzzy skin to the ex-walls.
- slice plate
- watch for result
Here are some illustractive pictures:
Now you see, the time change from 20h to 6h!
