Hello everyone, this model is something I personally really like. By downloading this model and use the modifiers, you can add wood grain effects to your model files!!! The description text will also be relatively long, thank you for your patience in watching.
import & generate
Then I import the stl file as a Modifier. Using this modifier to intersect with the model to print.
change the parameter
To make the model looks like wood, the top layer and ex-walls are very important. For top layer, I change the direction of lines. So the The original model is 45° and the model intersected with Modifier is 135°.
I think the most attractive aspect of this method to me is that every time I print, I move the modifier slightly, and the pattern produced is completely different. Every model tested and printed is unique.
But one thing I forgot to mention is that the amount of materials used and printing time will increase significantly
The operation I am doing is more like extracting a model from a tree trunk.
Similar to carpenters, cutting tree trunks from different angles results in different annual ring lines. I implemented this step using a modifier in slicing software. The modifier is a tree ring, and the model is a cutter. Finally, a wood texture is formed on the surface of the model.
I have uploaded some pictures to assist in explaining these processes:
First off, you’re awesome, and this is cool. I found this yesterday on makerworld and intend to use it with wood pla to print some parts of the prusacaster. Is there any chance you’d be willing to do a quick screen recording of your process? No worries if not, but thought I’d ask because it might make it a little easier for everyone to adapt - I’m a dummy .
feature-request
Would be cool to see an experimental version in Bambu studio like fuzzy skin or even makerlab.
I’m sorry that I didn’t make the video because I lack some video production skills, and I don’t have an account to operate some international websites such as YouTube.
But one great thing that I can’t wait to share with you is that the blogger Make anything shared a printing method that combines ordinary printing with a fuzzy surface, which works exactly the same as the wood grain effect. https://makeanything.design/
That’s a cool approach I’ve done an inverse of that in one of my models (to prevent fuzzy skin instead of selectively apply it) and it’s a nice application of the effect
Im not sure how to apply this modifier to my model in Bambulab studio. I try overlapping this modifier over my model, and hit fuzzy skin, but I only get fuzzy skin, no wood grain. Can anyone add steps to achieve this within another model?
I did, but then it is unclear what I do to get it to copy the modifier ontro my model. I tried right clicking on my model and Bringing the authors model into mine as a Modifier, , resize and move it over my model. Then add the fuzzy skin (Contour) step, and resliced. But it only adds the fuzzy skin texture to the model, not the wood texture. I have tried everything it seems,
