yeah but the stolen models are online not my house my house isnt open to the public, im saying if your advertising your model for free and then someone else takes it and uploads it for free on a different website thats fine. but if your charging money and someone buys it off you and THEN puts it up for free thats bad

That’s not okay, that’s why we made licenses. So no, it’s not okay not to respect the license. It’s not just about money, it’s also about notoriety, and sharing a design without crediting the author is immoral and considered IP appropriation if you don’t follow the associated license.

Have been seeing a lot of the same.
Funnily enough, I noticed that Thingiverse also has a similar problem.
All of a sudden, all of the models on Thingiverse look like a direct copy of Printables & MakerWorld.

Sounds to me like we clearly have a bot problem

This won’t make it difficult to copy/remove it. This will make it annoying and more time consuming for everyone printing your file. Bad idea.

So you’re fine with someone earning credit/points/money for other people’s work?

Angus from Makers Muse posted a video a few years ago on how to embed a logo/name/watermark in your model and it not be seen. Might want to do a search on his youtube channel.

I take it you are not designing models…

None. One of my designs was used by a guy who decided to sell it on Etsy. Well, surprise, surprise, you have absolutely no recourse. Nada. Zilch. Etsy doesn’t care. Creative Commons has no teeth. You’re basically on your own. Fortunately, that guy was nice enough to take the thing down after I swallowed my pride and asked politely.

To make my intentions crystal clear, I publish everything under CC NC-BY-SA to prevent exactly this kind of thing from happening. Apparently, that’s not quite enough. I am honestly thinking twice about posting a design now. A few bad apples spoiling the barrel, as always…

Yeah, I’ll most likely just selling printed model. Keep the blueprint internal.

Don’t want you models being stolen, don’t upload them.

If you upload them then they will get stolen, reused, remixed, sold for profit, etc. 15 year old kid that just bought a printer off Amazon doesn’t care about copyright, and the guy in china uploaded other people’s content also doesn’t care, he’ll just make a new account when his old one gets banned.

Plain and simple, if it’s on the internet, people are going to use and abuse it.

i remix my own models and even I think this is a great idea.

Between the repeated designs and the thousands of hueforge “art” uploads, I’m getting tired of makerworld and I’ve only used it for a month.

File a proper DMCA takedown. Etsy has to comply by law.

I’ve been watching the various bad behaviors and reporting some that stick out. I can see where it can ruin a site. Only posting to say I support efforts to keep a lid on these behaviors.

Problem is , that at least in America that if they have not patented or trademarked they probably have no IP rights and anyone can copy it. Just the way it is. And it is a bit costly to protect your creations. That being said how do the people a MM stop it. Like saying I can not draw a picture of a dog that someone else also liked and drew. They would probably have a law suite on their hands.

Duh… Not sure about the guy in China. I did file many reports against a few Italians and Germans. And I am a German.

And, no, your reasoning has flaws; it can be translated into:

'Don’t want to be sexually harassed? Don’t go out.

If you go out, then you will get verbally harassed, molested, sexually assaulted, raped, etc. Guys with sexual urges that are just simply horny don’t care about human rights, and the guy that repetitively harasses women also doesn’t care; he’ll just move on to another victim once coming out of jail.

Plain and simple, if it’s a woman on earth, men are going to use and abuse them.

However, as human being there is something called respect and self-restriction.

check out this guy, FijBar, loads of stolen materials from thingiverse and others. 1385842992

I reported some, but couldn’t identify a few which I am sure was stolen based on his capability of modeling.

Everything except original models should earn zero points.
