A Suggestion to Stop Profile Spam

@MakerWorld / @Tanklet, please do this to keep your designers happy. Here, I’ll put a poll for you.

Fix It: The model designer can select one of three options for their profile:

  • Option one, they are the only person who can upload profiles.
  • Option two, they have to approve every profile manually, and when approving they can choose to Deny, Approve, or Approve, but the designer keeps the points.
  • Or option three, anyone can make profiles, but all points go to the designer by default. If the designer thinks that the profile creator did a good job and added something useful (like manually painting in a model), they can choose to give the points to the model creator instead. The designer can also remove any profiles they wish to.

Ignore It: Don’t change anything. The spammers are doing a lot of work. They have to download the designer’s profile, figure out a better infill percentage, change the layer height, remove some of the optional plates to make it look faster, and then print it and upload it.

And @PrinterMcgee, I recommend renaming this thread- perhaps “A Suggestion to Stop Profile Spam”?

What do you all think? Make sure to vote for whichever you prefer, or suggest changes to the options if you can think of anything better!
