For a couple of weeks, my printer has been experiencing bad layer quality. It was mostly noticeable on the first layer, where the filament seems to be over extruding. The first layer was rough, bumpy, and hard to remove from the plate. It got worse over time, and about week ago my extruder head started clicking, and the print quality is terrible. I thought that the filament could just be stuck, so I took apart the hotend and did a cold pull. It didn’t fix the problem. I then tried to use another nozzle, but the problem was not fixed. I tried various things such as changing the filament, print settings, recalibrating, etc, the extruder is still clicking and printing badly.
Take a look at this:
Wow… I didn’t expect that to actually work, but it did. My screws weren’t super loose, maybe 1-2 turns, but now its back to printing perfectly. Thank you so much!
You have to remember that the nozzle sits in there, so if it’s loose, the nozzle is loose.
I tried all recommended fixes before this. Your comment is the first ive seen with the fix. Now i have to fix all the previous things i messed with, such as reverting the tramming since the filament is now way underextruding and not sticking.
I’m having the same issue with my A1 extruder head, did a cold pull got the filament out and check the feeder and it was clear. I found out the extruder head is full of melted filament and now have to get a tool to push it out after heating it back up.
