A1: Failed to extrude the filament

The issue first started 28/05/2025 where randomly it would say it failed to extrude filament. I usualy checked spools and pressed ok and it printed fine. Now I get message about “failed to extrude the filament, this might be caused by clogged extruder or stuck fillament.” The thing is its not cloggeda, nor fillament is stuck. I tried 3 different nozzles, stainless steel 0.4, hardened 0.4 and hardened 0.6 all from bambu labs. I also confirmed I can just put filament myself and it will leave from other side. I also took apart extruder and see no clogs anywhere. Yet it constantly says its clogged when I see it extrudes filament fine.

I tried both ams and external spools I get similar error.

It new printer, around month old, did not give any other errors until now where I can’t use it at all.

I have A1 with AMS

Just a quick check on the wiki and assuming you’ve not tried these steps and also assuming your nozzle height is OK.

Hope these help…otherwise it may be worth raising a ticket and contacting support.

Hi, already rised a ticket. None of this helps because its not actually clogged, it just falsely detects it is. I took apart whole extruder. I can put filament from one end to the other with no problem. Tried 3 nozzles, 2 of which were factory new, unused before.

If it cannot yank the noodle freely from the spool (aka tangled wrap) it can manifest as a phantom clog.

Check your filament roll?

I’m getting the same issue, I upgraded the firmware to the latest 01.05.00.00 prior to that it was fine. Have you done the firmware update?

I’m getting the same error when I print in multiple colors (one color per layer for multiple layers set in Preview tab of Studio). This just started. Likely from firmware update.

Is there a way to rollback firmware version?

Yes, use the Handy app to roll back the firmware.

I’m having exactly the same issue. When I print single colour, everything is fine but when I try to print a file with multiple colours the issue starts

Did you manage to find a solution?

You could try to turn of the Filament Tangle Detection off before you roll back the firmware I managed to get it working by doing that. Not sure if that’s the right solution but it’s worked and I will be replacing the filament sensor soon too just in case it was that at fault.

Check your nozzle.

Its easy to latch it on wrong as the metal latch slowly deforms over time.

That worked, just done a test print and it was perfect. Thank you!!!

Hi,
I was having a similar issue in that it would keep saying Failed to extrude, but there was nothing wrong with it that I could see. I did have the latch wrong, and altered it but it seems to be back to saying that - and, oddly, calibrating poorly - slightly too high and the layers are not going down well; well, failing.

It seems to have been the past two days, where the weather has been very warm in the UK - could the heat be causing problems for some reason?

considering i’ve seen these printers used in places way hotter than the UK would ever possibly see uh no. also most filament actually prints better when warmed first.

humidity? yeah you’ll have to put more effort in drying your filament. too cold? yeah (happened to me 'cause Canada) but unless the electronic components themselves are being overheated you won’t have any issues because there are third-party heated enclosures meant specifically to help keep temps up around the prints.

i’d just set aside a couple hours and go through the maintenance/troubleshooting guidelines. A1 | Bambu Lab Wiki

Guys i’m having the same issue. Everytime I try to print w filament changes I got the same error: Failed to extrude for now I’m using a temporary solution: pull back the filament take a little piece off and insert it again. That should work for a moment. for me every colored print is getting the same error over and over again, like 4 times in a roll. Any definitive solutions yet?

Turn filament tangle sensor off, same happened here after I turned , multiple “clumps” found and there was nada

Factory reset would perhaps work

Try this, I’m starting to thing it was an error in the firmware code which they will hopefully fix in the next version.

I tried everything roll back the firmware, toggle off the filament toggle detection factory reset. I even followed the official bambu instructions to remove the hot end and check if there is something wrong but there’s nothing all filament path is clear. Although I noticed a pattern: every time the filament stuck warning show up and I pull back the filament and take a piece of it the bambu A1 is able to extrude but if I pull back the filament and don’t cut it the same error appears. Could this be related w my filament brand?

Did you ever find a solution? I’m now having this exact same problem. I cut a tiny piece off and then it prints again.
