I powered up my printer this morning and I’ve been prompted with a new firmware update. Is there a place where I can read the full update log? (I know there was a thread about a beta version). So far I’ve seen a new menu for selecting nozzle, near maintenance and calibration. I don’t remember being there but I’ve been in that submenu once, to calibrate the printer.
After update, I’ve noticed that if you power off and on, you get a new screen.
Thanks! I’ve found the log in the studio (didn’t have my pc open).
As for printing, I’m trying to follow their advice. Most likely not completely, I still have to print some things, for my brother birthday, but I’ll watch it the whole time. I know mine is without defect but it’s on me if it goes bad (more than the cable) till the new bed arrives.
I love the SD card browser. I was just a little shocked how much “junk” I had accumulated on the card already. So much easier clearing up space on the card as I am a self proclaimed pack rat.
Interesting. I have no new firmware updates. I’m with the very same old version - 01.01.01.00. Checking for new firmware update via Bambu studio is also showing that there is no new version. Bambu studio is showing it is the latest version - 1.8.4.51.
Alright! In Bambu studio you can check at Device → Update. Your printer has to be online to check in the studio, and you can see it in Device list. “1.8.4.51” is the latest version of Bambu studio (the software itself), not of the printer firmware.
The file browser in Bambu Studio is listing only 3mf files and avoids gcode files. Every single print made by Bambu Studio transfers a 3mf file to the printer (which is a ZIP file) and extracts the gcode file from it. Right now deleting a project file from the new Bambu Studio file manager deletes only the 3mf file and leave junks like their gcode files in the card.
this File browser is not working in Lan mode (absolutely nonsense!)
at one point printer froze for no reason. Screen became inactive. Only a reboot manages to fix it.
I may be wrong here, but it seems to me that printer UI bit sluggish
I had my printer freezing in the previous version, but it was always when I was changing nozzles after a print and for some reason nothing really worked after that and had to power off and on to get to normal. Now it seems to be fixed but they added a menu to select nozzles, and it’s probably related.
The browser is not ideal. Getting timelapses is working, but the other files is like you said. At least I know what files are there and when it’s time to take out the card, put it on my PC, and manually delete those files as I did before. It’s also pretty big, so it can handle many files. There is also the format function.
This printer is not working like others. The SD Card is cold swappable only - i.e you should not remove it while printer is turned on. So it is not convinient to put manually files on it and then print them. At least for me. So, the inconvenience here is bigger than other non Bambu printers. I think formatting is not an option as it will delete all the system files and logs.
Printing via network is the best feature for me, but this leaves too much residue on the SD card as I print a lot. This new firmware was my hope to clear stuff from Bambu Studio directly, but… no…
