I started a print, however, a noise came out of the extruder that sounded like clicking.
When I canceled the print, I thought it was a nozzle clog, so I performed a cold pull.
I reprinted, but the clicking sound was still there. I let the print finish this time, and I encountered with a poor top surface quality and gaps on layers.
Is this still a clog, or is it another extruder issue, and is there any way to solve this problem?
Sir, that is severe underextrusion.
Clicking comes from extruder gear jumping on a filament. It can happen for many reasons, but I would look at your PTFE tube and make sure you don’t have any tight bends, debree or anything that blocks or restricts filament path; then look at the extruder gear itself and make sure it’s fully engaged and doesn’t have any grinded filament on the teeth. Lastly, check that you have the correct profiles and temperatures for the filament. Inadequate low temp would cause this issue as well.
