My camera and light started to malfunction, the message of defective camera appeared, inside turn off and on, without success, I tried to downgrade, continuing with the same defect, tooth clean the camera connector with isopropyl alcohol, without changing anything, I decided to disconnect and connect the camera with the printer on, it worked again, but if I turn it off, it doesn’t work again, does that mean I have to change my camera?
Sadly, i’m not sure. There is obviouly something with the camera system in these units, but everytime i’ve tried to talk to Bambu, their “solution” is to buy and install a new camera, which is a joke. If i wa sure it would work I might try that, but it seems so many people have had this issue multiple times,
I think this is not a guaranteed fix. Especially when we read that some folks get the camera working
again, just to have it stop working after a shot period of time.
I have an A1 mini home and at work. Both cameras have failed. It just says camera malfunctioned on both. Hard to believe both cameras failed at the same time. All firmware and software has been updated to the latest, cycled power and nothing works. Lamp doesn’t work either.
Sadly this is an all too common story. Same thing happened to me, and my A1 Mini, which was less than 6 months old. Bambu told me to buy another camera. I don’t think it has anything to do with the firmware at all, just crappy cameras. Obviously i don’t want to buy another camera and have it go out in a matter of months.
I have 4 A1 Mini’s, and progressively over time, 1 by 1, all 4 of them stopped working.
This is not due to firmware updates. I purchased a replacement camera for one of them, and the replacement cam also did not work, so I never tried that again. There is clearly an issue somewhere here with the A1 Minis. I own 2 X1C’s, 4 P1S’s, 1 P1P, 1 P2S, an H2D, and an A1, and all of their cameras work prefectly fine, yet somehow all 4 of my A1 mini cameras do not work…
Thanks so much for posting this. Same issue with my one and only A1 mini, and when i told Bambu, they suggested I buy another camera. I read other people tried replacing the camera, and it still didn’t work. They have an obvious issue with this mode, that they know of, but refuse to address. Sad and frustrating. I know the quality of the camera is sub par, but it was very helpful to check on a print when you are not close to the unit.

I have the same issue with my A2L. I bought it 2 months ago and now it malfunctions. The quality of it was awful, it didn’t give good angle, it didn’t give good timelaps, I prefer to buy an external camera and mount it on the wall in front of my Printer.
Wow, their newest printer is already having the same issue with the crappy camera not working?
The really need to sort this out. I’m going to have to get an external camera as well. I really just
want to monitor my prints remotely.
I have an A1 mini, the camera failed, I bought a new camera and it doesn’t work I also have no control of the LED light it’s just on all the time and I cant see printing progress in Bambu Studio, but all looks good in Orca slicer??
So got a really strange story to tell, I read about people downgrading the firmware to get the light and camera working again. So I tried that and went back to version 4 01.07.00.00. I didn’t get my camera back and had no control over the light. So I put it back to the latest version 01.08.01.00 The light worked when I was doing the update but after which I had no control. Then I removed the SD card, forgot to power off before I did it and the SD card seems to be fried but works in a computer?? I then powered it off put in a new SD card formatted it using the printer menu and now I have the video camera and LED light working under my control. Could all the camera failures be due to SD cards being full of files, strange how I have it all working again when the only thing I did tonight was change the SD card?? Anyone able to share any similar experiences???
Wow, that’s VERY interesting. What printer are you using? I might try reformatting my SD card, because my screen has been freezing lately, and I’ve read that it might be due to SD card issues.
I will try to do this later today, on my A1 mini, and will report back to see if the light and camera

I have an A1 mini, lost the camera 6 months ago, fitted a new camera and it never worked, then really random LED lights with no control other than working during firmware updates. I put in a new SD card tonight, formatted it using the printer because its FAT32 and the camera and LED light are now on and back in my control if I want them??
Computers now only offer ExFat so older devices still have the 4MB limit on file sizes using Fat32 might be why the camera etc stopped working, I am just guessing maybe some one from BAmbu might elaborate on this??
Ok, I rebooted my A1 mini, formatted the SD card, and rebooted the machine again.
Still cant get the light or the camera to work sadly. Didn’t work for me.

Might be a huge red herring but I sent the printer back to factory reset and then re-upgraded to the latest drivers. Proper pain in the ■■■■ inputting Wifi passwords etc but it all came back!
Maybe i’ll try that, my wifi password is simple lol.
Of I did the factory reset. I noticed my firmware on the printee remained the same.
What did you mean when you said you “re-upgraded to the latest drivers”? As of now, the light and camera are still not working.

So using Bambu Handy on the phone I returned the firmware to version 4, I changed the SD card, got the printer to format the SD card and then the printer told me that there was a newer firmware available. I did the upgrade and everything is now working as it should. I don’t know if the firmware upgrades were corrupt and now I have a good version but that’s all I can think of that has happened?
OK, I did revert the firmware, rebooted. updated the firmware, but no luck.
Still get "printer camera is malfunctioning error. Sucks lol
