Hi, I have owned a number of fdm and resin printers, all have needed constant tuning and troubleshooting then I bought an a1 mini and once I found it needed the build plate cleaning after each print it worked perfectly, every complex multi colour print, every smooth multi colour token I use for gaming perfect.
So I bought the a1 yesterday to upgrade, still got the same ams lite, the same basic bambu pla matte filament, and tested it printing both the bambu bench and some of the tokens I had been printing on the a1 mini
In all cases the a1 completed the task but the results were poor. The bench wasn’t terrible but the top surfaces in particular were very rough, the multi colour Union Jack tokens 30mm x 2mm printed but the surface was terribly rough basically useless
I have been using all the automated flow balancing, auto levelling etc which on the mini worked perfectly
So I tried calibrating manually, though it was confusing going on about k numbers and I may not have done it correctly having never had to do that on the a1 mini. I thought you only needed to manually calibrate for weird unusual filaments not bambu pla matte
Does anyone have any suggestions, I will raise a ticket with bambu but tempted to return it at the moment
The other thing, besides regular build plate cleaning, that needs to be done is to dry the filament. Especially when new.
It is only when the filament is known to be dry that calibration, troubleshooting, root cause analysis can teally happen.
In a pinch, it can be done on the heat bed.
Except perhaps for the known A1 issue of tightening the print head screws. But that usually shows as a messy first layer.
Thankyou for the reply, please remember that it is the same filament and the same AMS lite that was printing perfectly on my A1 mini an hour before. Surely that eliminates a drying problem.
