Same here. Internal firmware 1.06 runs X1Plus 2.0 with Bambu 1.08.00.00 base firmware from the SDcard, in LAN mode with MAC address blocked at the router. With OrcaSlicer, this does everything I need. I never wanted an AMS, don’t print from MakerWorld, don’t use Bambu filament, do not need Handy or the Bambu cloud. Recent firmware upgrades have no advantages for me and posts here on the forum suggest they were released without proper testing. Life is too short to be an unpaid beta tester.
I doubt I will allow any further “upgrades” unless/until X1Plus 3.0 comes out using a newer Bambu base firmware. Then, if I do not like it, I can revert by simply swapping SDcards.
I see now what i didn’t understood. I thought that “settings” was what was represented by the icon on the left. Then i searched for “Device and serial number” and didn’t find it. I have found it now. Thanks.
While most of the redesigned UI is clearly intended to be compatible with the H2D and both of the new AMSes, it also came with a couple of pretty significant downgrades - most of which could actually be very easily fixed.
The idle home screen wastes a lot of space with random text, and it no longer shows the plate temp or light controls, just the nozzle temp. After a print has finished, I’m very unlikely to be touching the nozzle, but I can pretty much guarantee I’ll need to grab the plate to remove my print, and it would be nice to know when it’s cool enough to avoid burning myself.
Suggestion: add the plate temp and light controls back to the idle home screen, and maybe the chamber temp too.
Filament drying options have changed and now only seems to show current Bambu branded filament options. For example for drying regular/translucent PETG, there is no option for that any more, it just shows PETG-HF/PETG-CF. It feels like a huge step backwards to remove the basic filament types in favour of ultra-specific variants, especially when the drying temps/time will be the same.
Suggestion: just list the materials in the drying list, not all the additives.
Pre-print, the printer now plays a noise with increasing pitch, like a musical scale. This is quite loud and obtrusive as well, and while it has done this after some previous updates, the following update typically fixes it so it no longer makes the noise.
Suggestion: add a list of all the pre-print options (bed levelling, first layer check, etc) and allow them all to be disabled to speed up print time and reduce noise.
The AMS no longer attempts to auto-detect the filaments. I realise this likely a bug that is already being addressed, but it’s a pretty significant one. Also, in Bambu studio, syncing the filaments is now a painful process - we want to select filaments based on what we actually have, not what the model creator has, that way we can get real estimates of filament use, time to print, etc and an accurate idea of which parts will be printed in which colours.
Suggestion: have the auto-detection be an option (on by default), to speed up loading filaments if desired. In Bambu Studio, make the default filament sync ‘overwriting’ and simplify it to a single click, ideally with no confirmation required.
After the external spool is unloaded, the filament info remains on both the screen and is synced to Bambu Studio. This can be confusing if you have spools loaded in slots 1, 2 and 4 of the AMS and nothing external, and wish to select the filament in slot 4 of the AMS in Bambu Studio, which shows the (no longer loaded) external spool as the 4th filament.
Suggestion: After unloading an external spool, clear the filament info from both the screen and from syncing with Bambu Studio.
During manual filament loading (without an AMS, eg for TPU), it no longer shows any details, just a list of the steps and which one is currently active, and most of the screen area is now unused. For example, the first step is heating the nozzle, and it used to show the current temp and the goal temp, so you have an idea how long it will take.
Suggestion: Add the extra info back onto the screen showing the progress of heating and other relevant info.
I love it too, but I can’t see the option to change my nozzle diameter anymore. I installed an original Bambu 0.2 mm nozzle but the settings are gone now. Anyone saw it?
