Actions taken against spamming of low-quality models on MakerWorld

I observed this person for two hours……
https://makerworld.com/en/u/1453615012
he kept repeating this: upload spams—farming model printing times—delete spams, like an assembly line.

In 2 hours, his print count +400, and countless rewards points also increased.

This seems to have become a new type of Bitcoin mining, haha

So print the model… photograph it on a green screen and then superimpose whatever background you want. Truth be told, most of these render people have no intention of ever printing any of these models, nor do they have any idea if the model in question will even print at all. We’ve even seen that some of the renderers have a texture the simulates layer lines now which is ridiculous. If you are willing to go that far to fake a print then why are you even involved in 3D design? It’s clearly just point whoring.

the biggest question I ask myself is how can he get that much prints and downloads within 2 hours…?

makes me not want to post any more models. why, when people are here to just abuse the system. got me Bambu and start posting some stuff exclusively here for fun. Things like that make me want to stop. i work hard for what i am doing to see these types of people, i’m like wow.

As long as he registers many accounts in advance, all he does is switch accounts to download or print his own models. What these models used for cheating have in common is that the actual models are very small and only take a few seconds to print.
For professional cheating organizations, the efficiency will be higher.

If you look at the actual print (not the picture) it is a 1g square which prob takes all of 10 seconds after warmup routine. The patsy downloads it and rates 5stars to top it off.

I share everyone’s desire to reduce spam and make the community a better place, but I don’t agree with the current approach. Since this is not an effective method, the junk file will continue to exist with a photo added. And what I really regret is that it kills everything!
This reminds me of a recent popular anime “葬送のフリーレン” (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) in which there is an interesting setting: 99% of the chest is monsters but 1% is treasure, do you choose to deny everything or choose to challenge and try?
It pains me to know that the current practice of removing low-quality files is undoubtedly damaging even 1% of the good design hidden in them.
I’m not sure how other people expect the fun that 3D printing can bring, is it possible to simply copy everything done by others without any thinking or challenge? For me, I prefer the challenges and attempts he brings to explore the infinite possibilities
I’ve seen a lot of models that aren’t really printable (these aren’t hard to spot with a bit of experience), but I still like some of the interesting ideas. I don’t print them, but I applaud the inspiration.
I can understand that the current bad experience stems from too many low-quality models, which feel like a desperate search for treasure in a garbage dump. But to choose to throw them all away is obviously an unwise impulse. It’s also a huge disservice to the creators who get hit by mistake (and yes, I’ll say that because I feel like I’m one of the victims). It also does not rule out that some people will use the current guidelines to maliciously report those excellent creators who do not know, which is obviously not conducive to the creation and development of the community.
I think what’s more urgent now than how to judge the quality of the model is how to clean up those who take advantage of loopholes in the rules. I hope we can discuss a more rational solution instead of simply denying everything, which scares me. The fact that people can identify the images and make the choice to report also shows that everyone has their own thinking and judgment ability, if there is a reasonable scoring mechanism then time can tell everything, let the good works emerge and bury the garbage forever.

I don’t want to continually butt my head against the same old wall, but I’m baffled by another 3D Print Enthusiast who doesn’t feel the need to present their work in “the flesh”. I cannot deny there are talented people who will render up an award winning scene for their Model. This rarely attracts me to a model if I’m totally honest. I am jaded possibly? But I seem to appreciate the Model more than the shiny, end of the day it could sit on a pile of carp and it’d be ok. The design, the challenge, practicality, etc are what I look for.

Where does 3d-printing go from here if suddenly you don’t have to present printed evidence but simply render up a pretty picture with a model in the middle? Why did I buy another 3d printer if this is the case, we will all just transfer files to each other…

I’ll go out on a limb and say that those who battle with this concept of printed evidence for EACH model want to skip the hard stuff to get the rewards. The main excuses I’ve heard so far have not proved me wrong, usually it boils down to laziness and entitlement. If your catalogue is great and you want to express your artistry, there are many other websites that cater for this niche. MakerWorld to me shouldn’t go down that path.

Currently there is no rule to say that every model has to be uploaded. You get to choose what you want and print it out, then upload it with a Tick in the box to say this is what it looks like when I print it. People will look at it and decide that it looks good, wow I didn’t know a 3d print could do that, or maybe it doesn’t really look that nice with those daggy overhangs or the colours don’t pop as good as the rendered picture.

If I’m going to download a basketball thats going to take seven days to print, you’d better hope it works, oh thats right, they always do. I want to know you took the time to fine tune the settings and can at least have half a clue as to what could go wrong because you did have a few failures. It’s ok though, I trust you did get it right.

The problem is that many people CAN’T identify renders. I spend a good deal of time on social media while on conference calls for work. I see multiple posts per week from inexperienced users asking what filaments and settings the renders are using to get the final look in the photos. At best they are setting these people up for disappointment by showing an imagine that cannot be achieved… at worst they know this and it’s simply bait and switch.

Bambu created a platform for people that are not technically savvy. It’s a printer for everyone so we can’t assume that the average user knows anything.

The interests of the downloader versus the interests of the creator, I think that’s the point of contention in this discussion.
You’re right, from a downloader’s perspective no one wants to spend days only to end up with a pile of plastic. Uploading a rendering without verifying it is detrimental to the interests of downloaders, and such creators are obviously irresponsible. But this is not true of all authors.
I would like to take my own experience as an example, and hope that while striving for your own printing experience, you can also keep an open and inclusive space for creative exchange from the perspective of creators:

  1. Designers need room for feedback and refinement:
(love fly)This is my most popular model at the moment and it’s definitely designed for 3D printing, I don’t think it’s perfect to start with, and if you open it up you’ll find that it’s also improving all the time. When I first released it, a lot of people downloaded it and praised it, but at the same time, a lot of people said that it didn’t fly, which was unreasonable for me, because the video demonstrated that my work had been tested and could fly. As a writer, I like to learn about the problems that people report to me in order to improve it, so I spent a lot of time looking for the possibility of problems, and finally improve it, just to give you a better experience. However, it is impossible to achieve this in a platform without tolerance and feedback. The innovative model will be simply denied at the beginning, and there is no way to get more feedback to improve and perfect it. What can be gained is only reporting and cracking down, which is obviously not a good way for the platform to develop.
  2. The interests of downloaders and creators are aligned:
(The Great Wall)This is a rendering of the work, the structure is very simple, it is easy to predict the feasibility of it (this is also a double check before uploading), many people downloaded and liked it, and it was taken down until last night. It may not be good enough to attract your interest, but it also contains my efforts and should not be subjected to malicious accusations. I have also finished it in print, but to achieve the effect requires repeated duplication, which is a long time and may miss the opportunity. By using rendering, the desired effect can be presented faster and shared earlier so that more people can see it. I will also be responsible for these models to ensure the feasibility of the models, which will not harm the interests of the downloaders. If you follow me, you’ll notice that I’m always happy to use real photos, it’s much easier for me, and it takes a lot more time to create a beautiful rendering. Some models are simple enough that there is no need to prove their feasibility. It may be lazy but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it occasionally. The time of the creator is also valuable, and I would like to save time occasionally to create more works for you. Sometimes authors just share their ideas for people who are interested and willing to try them out. If you start from the perspective of the creator, are you willing to see the work you have paid for, can be denied without thinking? What does the simple denial of everything bring? What could have been time to create and share more works turned into a lengthy appeal. Innocent creators lose attention and collections, and people who are willing to try lose opportunities. This is bad for both sides.

there some same question, as a creator should be responsible for their own model, and as a download should also retain their own discrimination and judgment, to give it to others is not responsible for their own. It is natural to want high-quality models to ensure print quality, but if you just want to simply copy and do not want to take any risks, then why not directly buy someone else’s finished model and use a 3d printer? I insist that creators should be responsible for their own models, but it is obviously unreasonable to impose the same risks that all downloaders face on creators, accidents will happen, different copycats face different problems, which is not guaranteed by the author, and it is therefore necessary to give creators more tolerance. Ability to collect feedback from downloaders to update optimization models. This is good for both creators and downloaders.

No one can prove you wrong because you’re just acting in your own interest as a model downloader and that’s reasonable, and I’m not denying it, No one wants to be flooded with fake renderings that are hard to print. But you may be talking about how this improves the quality of models today, and I want to talk about how this affects the future. As you said, those uploaders who just upload rendering images and are irresponsible can go to other platforms, but the same responsible creators who are accidentally hurt will also be affected and choose to leave. This approach has discouraged the enthusiasm of many excellent creators, and in the long run, there will be fewer and fewer new works in the future. Is there any future for a platform lacking fresh creation? In order to ensure the quality of the indiscriminate killing of innocent people, hurt innocent creators to destroy the enthusiasm of creation, you would want to see innocent creators hurt to leave a no longer updated Bambu, repeatedly printing the old model that has been proven countless times? Should the future of Bambu be a collection of old, well-tested models from other sites?
The above is my feelings expressed from the perspective of the creator, I hope that everyone can protect their own interests at the same time can also look at the problem from the perspective of the creator, not so the author is irresponsible, for some people these may just be an excuse. That’s okay. That’s not what this argument is about.
What I really question is the rough march that is taking place.
Anyone who tries to contradict me is avoiding the truth and using beautiful goals to cover up reckless brutality!
Look at what you have done, it is like a farce, the creators were not effectively notified, people began to freely report grievances without any consequences, the quality and experience of the improvement is very limited, contradictions and conflicts on the contrary, in the end, the innocent creators suffered the most harm. The pursuit of higher quality and better experiences is justified, but not at the expense of harming innocent people! As I said before, Bambu should stop this farce and find a more reasonable solution and compensate the innocent victims.

Protecting the interests of downloaders should not come at the expense of the passion of creators:
I think I’ve said enough before, as you said Bambu is a platform for everyone, not only downloaders but also creators, and no one’s use should be ignored, including those creators! Your request is simple and reasonable, but what you’re doing here is absurd and reckless. Those uninformed creators who really contribute to the community become the last victims.
You want to protect the interests of users, I want to protect the interests of creators, from their point of view no one can be wrong.
If you pursue a model that is perfect from the beginning, then no model is perfect in my eyes, all the models I upload are always willing to listen to everyone’s feedback, and I hope to constantly improve in exchange for feedback to make them better.
It is not ruled out that there is a writer with a good idea and a bad printing technique, perhaps he will render its ideal effect, and use the model as a challenge to find a printer who can implement it. I think that’s also acceptable, because it’s not coercive and it’s not fraudulent as long as it’s stated. Fear of risk can choose to leave the opportunity for those willing to try, wait for others to succeed and enjoy the results. But do not unilaterally negative so that others lose the opportunity, the author lost enthusiasm.
What I would like is to stop this practice of simply denying everything. This is bad for everyone, whether creators, downloaders or Bambu itself. If you feel you can manage your own reporting properly, can you vouch for the actions of others? How many unwitting creators are randomly harmed and who is responsible?
The crux of the issue this time is that the current approach strikes more at creators and less at saboteurs and downloads, and can be used maliciously to harm innocent people. As a downloader I would crave a proven and reliable model, and as a creator I would crave an open and inclusive environment. It’s not a conflict, and what I’m talking about here is finding more reasonable ways to improve the quality assurance downloaders’ experience without compromising the passion of the creators.
I think what is more objective and reasonable is the judgment of the public rather than the negative of individuals.
For example, let the creator fill in the selection (verified/to be verified) before uploading the model to display on the model display page, and at the same time give the download the test score option is also displayed on the display page (difficulty/success rate). I think this is more human and reasonable, giving the creator more space and giving the download more reference. Rather than using the current blind and radical behavior, which will kill many potentially good projects.

Let’s be honest… you just want to collect points to get free stuff. I spend many hours each week creating as well and somehow I still find time to actually print the damn things afterwards. (usually many iterations while I iron out stuff that I don’t like) Then I photograph them and throw the early iterations away.

It’s not reckless or unfair. It’s the cost of doing business as a “creator”. You essentially want to be a software engineer that comes up with an idea, write up pseudocode and then take a victory lap because the software is finished… but it’s not, it isn’t even partially baked. It’s entirely worthless until you PROVE that the concept works. It’s not on the end user to prove that, it’s the designer’s job.

Makerworld has absolutely no obligation to protect those types of creators because frankly they are lazy, entitled and messy. Honestly, I’ll go one step further and say that most of them are probably ripping other peoples content/ideas off entirely and hiding it in plain sight by typing a bunch of words (like yours) to defend why they can’t be bothered to print anything.

English is not my strong point. Is the content of this passage properly translated?
Your comments are blind and ridiculous, Not everyone is irresponsible, and you don’t even bother to look at my work before making accusations against people like me. Did you investigate and present factual evidence that “you just want to collect points to get free stuff”? You did not take the time to research or even take the time to read my statement, without relying on the facts and subjectively assume that others are making excuses for laziness, your behavior just proves that you are a lazy and self-righteous person. Acknowledge your own work while denying the work of all others, whether it is true or not. It is lazy and arbitrary people like “you” who completely deny everyone’s work based on only one one-sided indicator, make judgements based on their own conjecture and imagination, and make groundless accusations that make this matter reckless and barbaric! Does not upload the physical image mean that it has not been printed for verification? And I won’t waste my time arguing with someone who doesn’t take responsibility for what he says!

To be honest, your actions have no effect on me, I am responsible for all my models. I just wish Bambu’s decisions would take care of more people instead of serving themselves selfishly like some people do. And even use privilege to hurt innocent people out of malice!

To be honest, maybe you should go the thingiverse or patreon route. Thingiverse= will take any ■■■■ without question. Patreon= If what you make is so good then you will have people lining up to signup for your patreon. Then, you can afford some filament to print some of your models and come back and post them here. Problem solved. You can follow the rules and all is right in the world.

The amount of “poor me” in your posts is hilarious. It’s almost like you don’t even have a 3D printer at all and are trying to find a way to get a free one.

“poor me”?
“poor me”? Now you can swallow your crocodile tears, take a hard look at yourself, and stop slandering people. I have my own DIY printer and it’s good enough that I don’t have to spend all day thinking about how to get a new one for free. In addition, I have made and uploaded pictures of all models, no matter before or after, there is no violation of regulations. I just focused on sharing my work and how to make the community better, and I never cared about the points, it didn’t matter to me, I got enough points and didn’t think about using it, and he just kept lying there. You’re the only one who keeps stressing about the damn “free printer”.Now I know your focus has never been on making the community better, it’s just jealousy and taking the opportunity to attack others. Your comments also prove once again that you never pay attention to whether other people’s work is illegal or not and only use it to suppress them and highlight yourself.

Thank you, I will consider your suggestion and try more platforms in the future.Again, I have not violated any rules, just do not agree with the current blind radical approach. That doesn’t solve the problem at all. Report the garbage and upload new garbage again and again. The problem is not solved and creates more conflicts.

You’ve been the one playing victim for the past two days. That’s where the poor me came from. Honestly if you are printing your models then why have you even been arguing anything? It’s a simple rule put in place by the platform that you seem intent on using. (as others have mentioned you can put any ■■■■ you want on Thingiverse or even start a Patreon and go that route)

This isn’t the only game in town. I don’t want to suppress anyone, I just want all creators playing on a level field. Print it, post a picture move on. If people keep refusing there must be a reason and I can’t imagine that a few bucks in filament is it. If so, maybe start a gofundme so we can chip in and help because those are indeed hard times.

Also, you said you were done replying. Thanks for changing your mind, this has been fun.
