I am wondering what the consensus is on whether in November 2025 (with a BL sale running) is it a good time to purchase a H2D?
Have the teething issues evident in early production printers (experienced by a number of users on this forum) been addressed?
What is the definition of “safe”?
Many (including myself) have bought a machine without any physical issues. Some got a bad machine, partially due to transport, but also due to assembly issues.
I presume that the chance that you get a good machine has increased, but 100% definitely not.
I got a first batch machine (bought at release) and had little to no issues. Would have definitely bought it over on day two if had too.

I would hope by now the probability of getting a good H2D sample is 90% or better. I don’t expect perfection but I do expect a printer that meets BL advertised capabilities.

And yes I know the horror stories posted on the forum may be just a small percentage - but QC issues do exist.
I can only hope that that by now BL has tightened up the production line Build/QC to the point where purchasing a good H2D sample is pretty much assured.
Another purchaser the second it went on sale… no major problems.

Not dangerous, or Stabby, but likely to initiate a bout of SBRS if you receive a lemon!

Got mine a week ago and have been dealing with horrible first layer problems mostly on full plate builds. Wavy lines and simply horrible quality compared to the X1C i’ve been using since launch. While im still not certain if its a mechanical issue or software you can see the MANY threads regarding this issue. So if by safe you mean you are willing to deal with the VERY SLOW updates coming out till this machine can run as well as the first machine they launched years age go for it.
I got mine around Mai and had exactly those problems which were not fixable even with support. I was not able to get a good first layer. The quality was horrible. I returned the printer and wanted to wait a couple of months. I am now thinking about buying again but that people are still facing the same problems I faced does not give me much hope.

You just confirmed my reason for this post is justified and my ongoing reservations
It appears BL have still not improved quality control or there is a fundamental design issue.
I can accept teething problems but not long term recurrent print defects which are still apparent.
If you are in the US market, buy it from Best Buy. The price on Best Buy always matches Bambu’s current price even during sales. Mine was delivered overnight with no issues and you get the flexibility of a no hassle return in 30 days/90 days if you have the $50 yearly membership. I don’t fool around with any large electronic purchase that fails in the first 30 days if I don’t have to. There may be other online retailers that offer a similar deal. Many people mention Microcenter but the closest one to me is 3 hours away.

Did the BL advice provide any insight as to why such an expensive machine cannot produce a decent first layer?
These days even entry level printers costing 1/5th the price of a h2D can achieve a good first layer - this is almost a deal breaker.
Sadly not. I went through everything alone and with them. The result was always the same, a bad first layer. The more I tinkered the worse it got. At the end I did not wanted to spent any more time and returned it for a full refund. I was hoping (but was not sure) that those issues were software / firmware related. But if those still happen, I am not so sure anymore.
What I find puzzling is the extreme spread of experiences with the H2D.
Hand picked reviewers on Youtube always seem to get the perfect sample. They often report: "no issues after thousands of hours with near perfect results on every filament. . But in contrast too many people on this forum can’t get a decent first layer using BL PLA!
It’s simply not good enough to be one year down the track and first layer problems (and other woes) evident.
There is no doubt in my mind the H2D can deliver excellent results , but it seems its still very much like rolling dice whether you receive a good sample.

But your suggestion may be an option to go through a dealer who has a decent return policy.
I agree with your point that we should not have to take on the responsibility to resolve major factory production issues and therefore - simply return a faulty machine.
