I’m sure many have noticed, many users are rapid uploading and flooding the website with AI generated models.
This has to be controlled before its too late.
here is what i noticed in the past 2 weeks:
As a creator:
it is unfair to the hours of work creators spends on brain storming, designing and prototyping, whole AI uploader kick back whole AI does all the work.
they take all the exposure on the fresh page and the trending, and ours gets buried under (especially when its an exclusive publish).
their models are not unique from each other, as of one of the uploaders has the same FOX model with 4 different poses posted as 4 different uploads, not to mention the others who uploads vases and plates…i bet the don’t know how to use blender/fusion or any 3D cad.
As a user:
these are too distracting while the AI flooded models takes a lot of slots on the 3D models page, i usually surf the new uploads page to encourage and appreciate the long time spend on CAD, by giving likes or comments, but then AI model AI model AI model makes it harder to look at others.
on the trending page AI model are too frequent that its really not trending page anymore, its just another AI generated model.
there has to be something done, I’m putting my most focus here in, and would not like to see this website turning to a rapid AI upload dumpster like website i shall not name.
care to share your thoughts, or convince me I’m wrong, maybe i should do AI generated designs and flood the page too.
maybe this can get the attention of moderators to look deeper into what is happening now and please let it not effect the exclusive program.
There have been lots of threads already… threads where people wanted to meet in the parking lot and settle it with fisticuffs, throw hands, they wanted all the smoke. They usually start out with a post like yours, then lots of people will show up and agree… then the people who do the actual A.I. flooding will show up. That’s when things get crazy. Sometimes actual A.I. bots will show up to defend their A.I. bretherin. It’s wild.
You forgot to add that some people who actually do those AI cr@p come and say they have contacts with Bambu Lab/Makerworld and then the topic gets closed or ignored without any official response…
Also, as an example for op, check the one bellow and his download counts and pay attention to the models and the pictures… i get your point, we all (almost all) do, but this a road with a big brick wall at the end… You can keep driving, but you won’t go anywhere, that’s for sure
Oh trust me, it does bother lots of people… but that’s what makerworld wants. Web traffic. And that’s what they are getting. And in the end, that is what matters $$$$$.
My wife likes to browse “new” models and does not appreciate the obvious AI gen garbage boom and indeed it makes it hard for makers and users looking for legitimate models.
Really?!? Darn, I need a new punching bagsparring partner, where do I put “AI Gen posters/defenders welcome, bring mouthguard”?
Oh it is bothering people. At least the real ones.
Proverbs 13:11 — “Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.”
I appreciate when some of these “uploaders” actually states that the models are made using AI…But many of them simply don’t do that… and put their model in exclusive.
Exclusive models cannot be AI made. It was in the rules I remember… Am I right?
From my understanding it WAS appreciated until the website got any traction. After it got “known”, as with everything in life, quality gets pushed to the side.
Now it’s just a money pit for AI creators, as you said, and a way to get some bucks out of it for the rest of the people.
There is always printables the rewards for designers aren’t as attractive for sure, but the overall quality and even the amount of visibility you get is higher, especially now that makerworld is being taken over by this flood of low quality, ai generated “exclusives”
