AI generated models flooding the website

The “other brand” website gives good rewards too and yes, the same AI guy is there but it seems no one likes his models there as much as here and there isn’t much AI in the search as well. They moderate it better, even being a chinese brand as well. Maybe they are learning with this platform mistakes?!

And don’t forget, “another well known brand” is also coming up with rewards. Maybe it’s something to keep an eye on

But i agree. Printables is clean (sort of, the AI guys are there too) but at least i don’t get flooded by the same cr@p everytime i go there :ok_hand:

Yes, Bobo and his brother DrPurple have definitely showed up on my radar.

Hmm which one? I think I’m missing out on something

yesterday i mentioned this one too around here in the forum and the models also don’t respect the image at all in some cases but… report failed!

Guess it’s legit then

Finally, somebody understands! @MakerWorld should see this as it is more important than most issues I can think of right now. These AI models are constantly putting my models in its shadow. It’s like competing against a robot army, they’re relentless and might eventually lead to the extinction of all CAD models.

Those are probably Blender renders and they seem to be burying the actual prints of the models in the print profiles for the few that actually have print profiles.

A “sister” account appears to have been spawned as well. Can’t wait to meet the rest of the family.

You know what, we’re complaining and that’s ok and @MakerWorld needs to hear at least some of that because it’s not good in the long run for anybody…

I understand linking to AI Gen (or ai-inspired) ones that do point farming… But what about those hurt by that? What about up and coming ones? Like - I took a look at Froggy’s stuff and sure, photos and covers aren’t great but models do look nice and worthy of look. Similarly to other person couple weeks ago - 3d printing kid. All models are actually human made…

Where? Missed that because i am on between the forum, a project and the wife… got no time

bydovie, MrPurple and BoBow all seem to have similar design skills. It’s a designer family.

Well, can’t seem to find those users but at least i got into this:

And that seemed familiar… I started thinking… make it a plain under base, remove some of the moon overhangs and stick a candle holder in the middle… strange…where have i seen that before? :upside_down_face:

On the bright side, at least this moon has the correct shape and sharp corners

Imagine… If that one AI Inspired person could actually do the correct shape… Poole’s model is IMHO 100% legit.

Look ma, i made a perfect moon candle holder… with the correct shapes and only from 2 models available for free and in the slicer, all without any design. Yay

Well, on the the AI generated image i go… Let’s ask Bing

Edit for clarity: Poole’s model and the candle holder from P3D Design. All mashed up in the slicer, a negative part, sink it in the plate and… Tada!!!

Made me think about making one myself, and i will, because i trully love this design. And that’s where everything started for me since i was deceived and wasted material for a print that was cr@p thanks to the modeler that was not honest.

This isn’t gonna change. Even if Bambu stops their AI tool, someone who is using a different AI tool can easily continue the work and it may actually be able to develop better models. I haven’t tried asking ChatGPT for a model, but it can do it. From what I here, its not great at it, but I’m sure that’s only several updates away. AI is here to stay, and its only going to get better. Not only in generating these models, but in everything we do.

Don’t swim against the tide, make use of the tech and get ahead of the crowd. I know it sucks to have your hard work and efforts marginalized, but I don’t see this trend backing off. Embrace the suck. I’m sure a good modeler could ask for a model and then improve it with their own expertise and imagination. Now you’ll have the bots working for you, and not just against you.

Don’t look overlook or forget the extra accounts that they also spin up to rate and boost their models as well. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Also while the VPN is open you might as well create a well to do person 2,000 miles away that you give early access to all of your models so they can have first crack at making a profile. :eyes:

 Fell out the chair. Thanks  :ok_hand:

What’s the solution here though? Assuming @MakerWorld is not going to stop people from doing this… do they create a separate section of makerworld exclusively for AI generated models? I’m not sure what the best solution here is. I do agree though that not only is it starting to degrade the overall quality of things on makerworld, it makes it harder to find the truly interesting and useful models that people are creating.

Just to add to what you said. Do you believe that until i went “poking” at the profiles from some users here in the forum, that i didn’t get them to appear to me ever? For example, Josh’s models never were recommend to me at all. I found them because i went and searched for him. And yet i find them interesting. Or h3li0 for example… even Malc’s models…

Creating and AI section would make it work somewhat, if we can block it somehow. Then i won’t get anymore Hueforge’s or AI… the problem is that people need to categorize it accordingly, and even then there are certain cases, with given proof, where if they wouldn’t categorize it correctly, they would not be punished because… contacts… yeah… hard to guess how to make it work

Now i see it. Strange, when i search for those profiles they don’t come up at all.
But yeah, that is really strange. All the models are the same style, same “render” with fake layer lines, etc… And with some downloads already… how does this does not get noticed by @MakerWorld? It’s here! Is anything more needed? Because reporting, at least from my side, gets “denied/failed” or ignored for all my latest reports or… since the last discussion about AI in the topic that was closed.

And check this. No downloads counted, but the model in the picture shows 311 downloads and 90 prints… strange

Another one i found after digging a bit.

MrPurple is 14 years old. Yet he links the Halloween pumpkin mode to this youtube channel and video:

And there someone commented that he is the owner of that model and asked to be linked to this channel:

Yet, in MrPurple makerworld profile he links to this youtube channel instead:

With no videos about the models he posts here at all…

Getting weirder and weirder
