AI generated models flooding the website

I’m not going to come across as picking on deltaprints, I’m not a fan of how they have acted in the past but I too was burned by the AI cover not matching the model thing

A work mate wanted this

I showed them that it would look like this

They were pretty disappointed and thought it was a limitation of printing. So I designed this

I love 3d printing and I don’t love people thinking that it’s anything but awesome

It’s what prompted me to start recording a series where I make a bunch of AI cover images into real objects that look like the cover image

I have a few recorded now that need editing and will release them soon ish

It’s my project, I want to do it, I’m invested now

Many people would very much appreciate that, including myself.

It’s almost as if multiple people have an issue with this behavior that you keep trying to justify. You are not obligated to participate. Particularly when you cause the conversation to devolve by ad hominem attacks rather than using logic to defend your stance, which then causes the thread to get locked.

I was just trying to help.
I think if you’re going to throw ■■■■ at a wall some should stick.

We really need a solution from @MakerWorld on this, because people will keep bringing it up.

  • Are cover photos which misrepresent the models allowed?
Does AI art get a free pass because they are extra convincing and attractive at first glance?

  • Will MakerWorld allow users to filter out AI generated models?
Due to the low barrier of entry required for creating AI generated models, it makes it far too likely that a model will have been uploaded that is untested and possibly even unprintable or non-viable for the claimed purpose. This can negatively affect people’s view of MakerWorld as a 3d model resource if models are frequently failing or difficult to print for new users, and for others it will make it unusable if you have to spend too much time sifting through AI slop in order to find anything.

For the umpteenth attempt at a summary: AI models are corrupting Makerworld. Everywhere we turn, Cute Fox, Smiling Penguin, even Printmon Koalas! Almost everybody on this topic agrees (except for the ones that have gone to the dark side,) users are spamming AI models. They take part in this disgraceful action to rake in cash, which is not a benefit for Makerworld. None of the models are even high quality because they lack true creativity and effort. So the point is we really need your help @JonRaymond, @MakerWorld, @BambuLab, @Tanklet, whoever can truly make a difference please help us or else this might happen:

Edit: Ironically this was AI generated.

There was a post by MakerWorld addressing this already.

This is, interesting

That’s awesome idea! You should link to your YT channel on MW and on the forums too!

Fortunately they said they’re working on one here: AI generated models flooding the website - #150 by MakerWorld . What I would add to your list (on top of disallowing deceptive cover images and being able to filter out tags and categories) would be to be able to block/mute other users on MW from seeing their models while browsing.

While it is interesting, you might want to post it in Hidden Gems. Aka, I found something neat on Makerworld that’s the thread for “hidden gems”

The really undesirable thing about it is that even more people come up with this idea. I started with a simple one for fun.

More AI-generated images are already on my hard drive. But I have to admit that, as a very creative person, I’m always looking for something new and developing myself further instead of always doing the same things. So I don’t really enjoy that sort of thing. But I thought it might also be a good exercise for me.

Best regards

PS:

However, my girlfriend has just discovered its usefulness and even used it for its intended purpose after she asked me what it was for. She uses the small model of it for crafting to put her jewellery stones in before they fly around again and I dispose of them

Well guys, after yesterdays rant, that i had to take out of my organism, i came here just to say that what i wrote was not to be a point for discussion at all. It was a rant. I hate seeing history getting repeated and the last time i saw anyone showing his superiority like this in German history, it didn’t end well

Anyway, with this out of the way, i am also here to say that any model that anyone wanted to print but felt deceived after, will be remade by me, when possible. Be it from the AI guy or from anyone else that has the same modus operandi. I now know that silence is the best form of treatment and showing results is even more rewarding.

Thank you all for this lovely topic and thank you @ToRA for bringing some things up, since i thought i was the only one that had seen what was obvious. Oh, btw, that @user_3161917381 that had his account “deleted” was indeed, from my point of view, the same as the author as a way to downsize other creators. I reported at the time, when he wrote one of the comments in my model: “This is still Sh.t”
But got this as an answer:

Apparently it was not enough for Makerworld. Go figure why right?
But then after the AI guy was confronted here and noticed that more people also saw what i saw, he deleted his own alt account through here:

That’s why the account is no more. Enough of rambling…

Private messages are open for Remakes of models (when possible), reimagined by me, without touching the creator design but bringing a touch of reality to it.

Have a great one everyone :ok_hand:

Edited: I am sorry, it was not about the “truth” as i thought it was, but because i mistreated someone the way i shouldn’t, even without realizing. My mistake it seems. Sorry everyone

I am not following, what happened?

Edited because it was part of my mistake. Again, apologies to everyone

Link when you post something please

now i’m all nervous, i hate my voice…

So the funniest thing would be to use AI voice over to do it…

Well done!

No need to be self-conscious about your voice. It’s quite pleasant, in fact. Audio quality sounds pretty decent as well, though it could be run through a high-pass filter to really make it extra nice.

now i have some stuff to get googling

Nice Work. Here are some pics of the printed “Fake” model.

Sorry, but maybe this ist not a 100% copy of the AI Image.

See that’s the issue with your thumbnail though, to me, several others, and the person that wanted me to print your model (i think it was the toothbrush version actually) it looks like this

and that’s what i’ve done. I’ve also made it parametric

To be honest, I don’t really care about what you think or feel

I look down on you in every way imaginable, but I am glad that you’ve brought this upon me.

I enjoyed remaking this with some constraints placed on myself to do it as fast as I could manage, and in as little steps as I could

see you in the next one
