AI generated models flooding the website

Check this thread. The recent V2 fixed some of the issues with it and added an even more jumbo version as requested in the comments of V1.

Not even sure what you mean there. If you are suggesting that my hex fidget is simply an exact duplicate of another one, I can indeed back it up if needed. I don’t feel the need to here, though. Again, check the above thread.

Nah. I kinda doubt that. If you do, what are some of the things you’ve spent hours tweaking?

I can certainly tell. As @Square3D said, it’s about misleading AI thumbnails. Not lithophanes.

Wow, way to be positive! There’s no noticeable different between free and paid, as far as designing complex stuff. And no, even if I was in college/university (which I’m not), it’s not that terrific of a deal.

I read this and immediately went and bought the paid license. My models all look the same?! Fraser there’s no easy way to say this… you owe me $680. :palm_up_hand:

Yes, some people are like that, i know :upside_down_face:
Imagine, there are even people that pay for donuts and get only the package with a note written inside that says “Think of a donut” instead and also don’t mind at all.
Me personally, i have above the average standards and i only print what it works and not what is boosted to oblivion or has thousands of downloads.
But you do you, by all means :ok_hand:

People should not be required to spend their time and money (in the form of electricity and filament) to discover this because the thumbnail was misrepresenting the model. Additionally, if this is allowed to happen then people will continue to abuse it to artificially inflate their download numbers.

To put it simply, this is not a good argument for this practice and instead it’s far more of an argument against this behavior.

Just because you don’t think it’s an issue doesn’t mean others don’t, and that does not mean it’s a good reason to not accommodate others who find this an issue if you think it doesn’t affect you.

Now I feel like rampaging throughout Makerworld and hunting down each and every AI model.

If this becomes true they will probably just be double the AI models, which is not what we want. People that use AI should get 10% the amount of points CAD designers do.

So many AI generated models and renders in the Christmas contest, some even trending. How? The models are garbage, are people really downloading/printing these models or is it all just bots driving up stats?

The renders don’t even match the models in many examples, I guess because they are not even renders, just pure AI.

Look at those snowflakes (?), completely different, but both terrible.

Just do it :ok_hand:
But don’t get your expectations too high because you will mostly be ignored in most of those reports, from my experience at least.

Already reported that account and models several times. The answer was:
jake-tapper-jake-tapper-crickets

You should ask @MakerWorld why they ignore those reports because everyone with 2 eyes can see what you have seen in those models. And in doubt, read the comments on some of his models where people also complaint

This is flat shaming, my friend

Mr. Purple, his sister and cousin or whatever :upside_down_face:. They were already mentioned here in this topic too. And lots of reports from several people were also made. Yet the models remain there and the “14 year old” that is trying to make money to buy a p1s or a x1c is actually a 40 year old with a youtube channel. Go figure…

I saw this over on the cults account for that snowman dude.

Mr Purple/bobo/etc pick a profile, same MO. They get away after numerous reports and can still run a profit, MW failing to ban repeat offenders like this.

From a random model, these “designers” believe there’s nothing wrong and will go down punching. It really is sad.

As I wrote in the description, the final model isn’t exactly like the one in the cover image. I’ve added several photos of the printed result, so people know what kind of result they’ll get, including in the cover image itself. Full transparency here.

Man, “Fething Gak Head”… they don’t pull any punches on Cults lol…

I’m sure even a person with a single barely working eye could spot the problem there…

But I don’t think they fully ignore reports…

DO EET. Or rather - don’t go searching for trouble but if you see something - say something. And do it in a professional manner. Seems to be working…

Indeed - the cover is ai-gen, the model is either bad ai-gen or bad attempt at quick re-sculpt…

“Free candy” vibes all over the place. Shady people are just shady.

Imagine putting ai garbage on Cults, which are explicitly anti-ai… That “gak head” is probably nicest comment there

That is what i have been saying for the last week, at least. MY reports are being ignored since the discussion with the AI people/guy that came in this topic. Coincidence or not, i don’t know. But mine get rejected (MrPurple is one of them) or i won’t get any response at all. I can go through the system messages and make a screenshot if needed.

Remember the guy that left a comment in one of my models saying “it looks like sh1t” and more? That was a direct violation in my point of view and yet this was the result of that same comment report:

Now he is gone (already explained what it happened a few answers back) but still… why deny a report of a nasty comment like that? And i have more examples but i don’t want to start a “name the user” war because i am being penalized enough already.

This should not happen at all. That’s why now i avoid reporting at all until at least i get a rational explanation

No need. I believe ya. Personally - I dislike “hall monitor” behaviour, so I only report obvious rule violation stuff that comes across my feed, so maybe that’s why I got pretty high success rate? I’ve even re-read community guidelines and I do believe that ai-gen cover images (especially when there’s no other images, even from slicer) all fall under 1st rule: “spam and deceptive practices” and should get nuked.

Won’t be too hard, as there’s just a few main accounts. At the same time, there are a ton of accounts. Also not sure what you’d be able to report them for.

Imagine buying your first 3D printer, opening up MakerWorld to find this really cool looking Santa model that you’d like to show your family because they were already a little skeptical of buying the printer in the first place, and this is the result from your first print. It would be frustrating, and I would imagine they would be ready to start the return process immediately, which is bad for business and the community.

There are so many other amazing real designs out there that should be presented to users when they open Handy or MakerWorld online.
