AI generated models flooding the website

You know this wouldn’t be such an issue if @MakerWorld had the backbone to just adjust the guidelines to remove any requirement that models needed to be printed and evidence shown. It’s pathetic how much they’ll move the goal posts when popular “makers” are involved. There must be more than a few supporters for honesty for them to stick with the redundant guidelines otherwise they’d delete them.

PS. Currently tickled by their dodging and weaving in a few support tickets regarding handpainted models being uploaded as multicolour print evidence. One is very prominent in the creator program page, yet…

We completely understand your frustration and would like to further explain. This is a project we are collaborating on with creators, and all kits sold in the store undergo multiple tests by both the creators and our internal team.

During our internal testing, we strictly follow the multicolor printing process to ensure that there are no issues before the kits are made available for sale.

I need a new hobby… Maybe I need to borrow @johnfcooley riding crop

I can tell you one thing, without disclosing more than i should. There is enough proof here in the forum, in the several topics already opened and even some closed, about the “fairness” of makerworld. Youtube is a great platform to distribute some content.
Only if we had a big youtuber without any connections to Bambu and that was well versed in the 3d printing world and known enough, to show some of the flaws of whats happening with makerworld and some creators… right?! Right?! :wink wink:

Better leave the forum for a while, while i can

Oh but we have… You just need to see the right creators

I’m telling you, best thing I did for my sanity was pull everything. I have my own set of trolls now, but they’re cute and they seem to eat well. Apparently I succeeded so well in making an ass out of myself I have fans.

I’ll go with the flow. Been in 3d printing communities since the hobby started way back in the day and will keep being with the community. 1 bad sheep does not matter when there’s a sea of sheeps

Removing everything from here does nothing. For that i would have to remove all models from everywhere and basically disappear… I am not a big modeler, not important for the platform and alone i don’t make a dent and now, at least i get something out of it.

I like forums, grew up in the old bbs time and then came forums and they are awesome but quickly disappearing in trade for social network apps. This is where i feel at home, discussing, helping people and doing my part. So yeah, i have some trolls in my batcave too, but they are harmless and don’t eat a lot

I agree. I thinik we’ve both been around the block.

I’m here. My models aren’t. I will just support the resin habit with them. Been paying for all my filament anyway.

“it is unfair to the hours of work creators spends on brain storming, designing and prototyping, whole AI uploader kick back whole AI does all the work.”

Not an issue, use AI yourself and what about those people that upload simple fidget animals and only change the shape slightly but people that make whole AMS stands spend hours and hours prototyping and printing? It’s not an equal-for-equal effort playing field to begin with. It’s like comparing product on Amazon “It’s not fair this simple screwdriver gets more sales than my robotron-5000 that I spent years making”

The flat sales of the Robotron-5000 are a darn shame. An outrageous slight against all that is decent in this world. Don’t even get me started. We could be here all day.

You should look at the new model, the MoronTron 2000. Only sold a dozen to “special” customers

How can you use ChatGPT to help make models?

You can’t. Chat GPT, as the name implies, is based on chat/conversation and while it can somewhat generate images, it cannot generate 3d modeled figures. There are ways to do it but they are still too green and in most cases even with post processing the models suck.

Exactly. I am also wondering if there is an alternative AI.

There are several, but they are not there yet. Not even close. Most of these guys that use AI do it in this order.

Ask AI to generate an object with detail, in a cozy living room/cozy kitchen ambient/etc. And then after they are happy with the generated image they try to recreate said object in fusion, blender, whatever. And that’s where the problem is. They can’t or aren’t skilled enough to recreate the same that is pictured.

From what I gathered, again I didn’t try, ChatGPT will create a script or code.

Oh yeah, I just realized how they could do it.

  1. They ask AI to generate image
  2. They upload the image to “Image to 3D Model” on Makerlab
  3. They download stl and publish model.

For programming, sure… modeling through code/commands reminds me of the old autocad in the days

Try it yourself… I can tell you one thing. You won’t like the result
