i don’t think they are selling the designs, only the parts themselves, they are however using the photos in a commercial way, which depending on how you set them is a copyright infringement by itself, but the biggest infrigement is actually towards bambulabs and the kits
edit/ i just clicked that last link for the AMS lite enclosure, and you can also see the customer comments:
yeah there wasn’t a way to permalink to the option for printed sets, only the main page and then you have to select the last option for the higher priced print
Makerworld states it offer copyright protection for the designers that list models exclusively, this is a copyright violation, of the design and of the photos
You may not understand, but that doesn’t make you right.
As already pointed out, this organisation is selling the works protected by MakerWorld under the Exclusives and the @MakeSupply programs.
It affects more than one designer.
It may not affect you, but, would you hope others would offer help and support when it does? Just because you are not a victim today it doesn’t mean you won’t be tomorrow.
Learn to help, or at least not be rude and unhelpful as you may need the rest of us in the future.
No, Makerworld states it offers Creator Support for MODELS in the EXCLUSIVE program. Not designers. Not designers that list models exclusively. EXCLUSIVE MODELS.
You hadn’t considered the totality of the situation and your basis of facts misses important things. Yet, you MUST be right.
That attitude doesn’t make you a good member of the community.
I do not see how this is MakerWorld’s problem
Legitimate statement. I do not believe you understand the whole picture, but, you are welcome to your opinion.
Being rude whilst doing it isn’t a great way to act.
The issue raised by @AeonJoey is larger than his concern as should be fairly evident to all, except you. Which again, is fine, but, the rudeness is not.
okay now, calm down - we’re adults having a conversation about our 3D models, this isn’t some ‘hey this is a new thing’ it’s treaded ground, and hey guess what? MakerWorld HAS helped, see this thread that, let’s see… MalcTheOracle started: Another company stealing MakerWorld models
where they replied, and now I have the answer to the question. SO. THERE.
I don’t think your model is being sold - looks like he is only selling the round hygrometer. If that is the case, then the listing title is completely misleading at a minimum. The last statement in the listing directs the buyer to your model to download the necessary files.
But using your photos without your permission is another thing altogether. I am not a copyright lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, so I cannot comment on the legal aspects (not sure if you have to declare copyright, such as “Copyright 2024 AeonJoey” on the material you wish to declare copyrighted), but at the very least, the seller should have exhibited common courtesy and asked you if they could use your photos.
Seems common courtesy is severely lacking in today’s society…
What neither Bambu or Makerworld seem not to grasp is the fact that they depend on makers publishing their models on the promise and written commitment from both to protect makers’ IPR and copyright, which currently as shown above by multiple examples, it’s not the case. Consequently, many makers might begin having second thoughts on publishing further models on Makerworld and go elsewhere. It’s damn stupid from Makerworld/BambuLab to state a written commitment which they don’t enforce. The affected makers may very well move to another platform and drop Makerworld for good. Ultimately it’s Makerworld who will lose users, makers, reputation and trust.
Best of luck with Ali Express. I had an issue with a few of my designs being sold there a while back. I gave up trying to do anything about it after I realized that Hasbro can’t keep knock offs from being sold on Ali Express so I didn’t stand a chance.
