So, toward the end of a 23-hour multi-color print (sigh), Feeder #2 could not load the filament. It kept trying and retracting. After numerous retries, I canceled the print. However, Feeder #2 is locked. It won’t unload the filament so that I can troubleshoot. I tried loading other feeders, but they won’t feed and also get locked. Do you have any ideas? Thanks.
Had that in the past. I assume it is a standard AMS rather than the A series AMS light? And I assume you extracted the filament at the print head using printer display controls?
In my case(s), the filament was broken inside the AMS, being stuck in the filament switch. It is straightforward to open up the AMS and extract the broken filament from the switch. Just fiddly and annoying.
Moist filament is more prone to cause this. I have one roll of transparent PLA that is particularly annoying in this respect, requiring roughly weekly drying.
Cut it. Really not much of an option and it will end up helping in a way.
Cut it after the AMS, at or before the hub. Cut again if you want where the filiment goes into the printer. Piece of Cake from there. Once you get it unclogged reboot the machine.
I was thinking the same thing, but then I had an epiphany. When I hit “retry,” it unloaded the stuck spool, but before it could load the new spool (which would also get stuck), I turned off the machine. I was able to unload all the spools. Now, I just need to find the clog. I assume it is in the extruder.
