All Clogged up

Hey yall,

uh uh, I came back this morning to check on my multi color print in my P1S.

Print paused because front cover fell off. I checked and saw boy oh boy. There was massive backfill from the poop and blocked the exit. the poop was then forming one big blobb. Completely blocking the extruder head and also surrounding this purge mechanism. the flab thingy is also blocked now and the head is glued to the blobb.
I cannot break it off out of fear breaking something.

never had that before.

what would you do? where to start?

Is it just the tip of the nozzle that’s stuck to the blob or does it come up and surround the nozzle too? If it’s just the tip I would set the hot end to 300 and see if I could move the whole axis forward.

If you can get it loose from the rest you might be able to dislodge the whole blob from the poop chute as long as it isn’t formed around something. Worst case scenario you might have to take the back off the printer and remove the whole poop chute.

Can someone help, Relative Newbie to 3D printing. I found my printer printing fresh air.
Could’nt extrude or unload. Have taken the hot end off and it looks like its full of filament. Do I have to manually remove this or will it extrude on its own.

ALSO

THe other side of the filament coming from the spool is stuck into the Extruder. I cant pull it out. Is there a manual process that will maybe realease it.

Thanks for help.

Welcome to the forum!

Sometimes you can heat the nozzle up and push a clog through, but if it isn’t coming out of the extruder in the other direction either that normally means the filament has been crushed and flattened out where the gears meet. If you already have the hotend off I would use a heat gun and try to clean it out separately. For the extruder you can take it off too and if you take it completely apart you’ll see where it’s flattened out. Just cut the filament off directly above the extruder before you take it off.

Here are the official methods for clearing the nozzle:

Wow - I figured you would say that. I am going through the intricate job of taking the extruder out but stuck getting the big cog off, worried I might damage it. And now it mention’s a “gear removal tool” wish I knew I would need one of those two weeks ago when I got the machine and I could have printed before I got to this point.
I need to look at clearing out the nozzle seperately, the wires will get burnt if im not really careful.
Thanks for your help though. This is a real pain.

You’re welcome, happy to help. About the yellow gear, there are two ways to get it off without the tool. There’s a hole on the back of the extruder where the gear shaft is in a small bearing. 1. You can push it out from that side with an Allen wrench or 2. If you pull the yellow gear and wiggle it just a tiny bit it will work it’s way out.

We’ll be here if you need us.

Appreciate advice. I now need a nights sleep before tackling. Thanks

Half way there. Realised that you have to fully untighten the tensioning screw rather than as the official instructions says “loosen”. For others theres a stop so you cant fully undo it. Removing the cog then so much easier.
