All filament sold out?

It’s not a mess, that’s not how product management works, and why feedback in a forum like this is so important. Volume of feedback on pain points is critical data. Again - this feedback and energy is a gift to them.

and where will you go? There is not much competition :stuck_out_tongue: I mean there is, but it is a bit behind :>

for filament? stop it.

Ah, no no. Here, in general, the discussion turned to the company in its entirety: P

There for sure was more in stock last night.

I’m still kicking myself for not ordering an AMS Hub when it was in stock a couple days ago. I’m not mad at Bambu Labs though, because I knew what I was getting into when I purchased the printer. New companies don’t have huge supply chain networks built out yet, particularly ones that just finished a Kickstarter 6 months ago. These things take time.

They seem to be doing a pretty good job of keeping up with demand on the hardware, which is the core of their business. Seems silly to think someone is going to “move on” from the Bambu Labs ecosystem after spending $1500+ on a printer, simply because the name brand filament is difficult for them to keep in stock at the moment. If no other filament worked in their printer, I’d totally agree with you, but that isn’t the case.

I do agree with everyone that not having the name brand filament in stock is a problem, I just consider it to be a small problem not up to scale with some of the hyperbole in some of these comments. I’m sure it will get rectified in the near future, especially after things ramp up again after the Chinese New Year holiday.

I looked at like 9pm GMT-6, they had like one color of each type of PLArefill available. Maybe I have bad timing, but that’s how it looks every time I check.

I was just pointing out that explosive growth isn’t always a good thing, as we’ve seen with countless other kickstart companies. Inability to grow with the demand can derail the whole train pretty quickly and early backers get hung out to dry.

I’m not gonna spend a bunch of time perfecting profiles for other filaments just to go back to Bambu filaments whenever I can get them. I’m gonna stick with what I’ve tuned in and I know works, what I’ve spent time working with. I doubt I’m gonna buy into the Bambu filament again any time soon, especially if only refills are available.

Bambu has more issues than just supply chain, communication being a massive one. If they could simply communicate their plans and timelines better I think it would alleviate a lot of the complaints across the board, not just with this topic.

Seems like it’s mostly luck of the draw on timing. I’d guess a lot of it has to do with time zone changes and getting entered in stock during normal business hours Shenzhen and Shanghai. I’ve been trying to get some PAHT-CF and both support filaments, but haven’t seen either of them in stock ever.

Totally. But the flip side of that coin is explosive growth is also the fuel that helps pay for things like more support agents to improve customer relations/communication and larger orders with their suppliers to keep more things in stock. If I had to guess, their margins on their Kickstarter weren’t great considering the prices the hardware was being sold at. Hopefully new hardware sales at regular profit margins will help things in the areas they need improvements in. They got a bunch of job postings for full time customer support agents in a bunch of different markets. It also looks like they have job listings in e-commerce areas, including one specifically for Amazon, so hopefully that means things like filament will be available from other retailers in the near future.

I’m right there with you, as I’ll be using my X1Cs for my manufacturing business. I’ve got a bunch of different non-Bambu Labs filament that just arrived today that I’ll be testing to try and find the best ones that work for our applications. I need something I can get consistently and reliably and won’t be switching to Bambu Labs filament until I know I can get my hands on it without fail. It might take a while for that to happen. So in the mean time, I’m exploring my other options and will probably stick with whatever brand works for us once we get it dialed in.

Communication could improve, specifically timelines on when supplies/materials will be available. But that’s a double edged sword. If they state a timeline on when something will be available and then their third party manufacturer doesn’t meet those timelines, customers will get upset. I suspect they are still trying to figure out these details and what to expect from their suppliers, as suppliers can often over promise and under deliver. If I had to guess, that’s why certain things in the store have an estimated arrival date and other things do not.

There was another filament restock last night. Some PLAs were available. Looks like only refill ABS is still left (all colors as of this morning).

In the uk store or the European one?
In the European one almost all are missing including Bambu Reusable Spool.
Can we order from the uk store?

Honestly? Yeah, I mean, if they can’t keep it in stock, I’d just go back to buying filament elsewhere. I already got the printer, and I’m not going to spend time repeatedly coming back to their store to check filament stock when I can just as easily search Amazon and order some right now. That being said, anyone who purchased a printer is still locked into the ecosystem, like it or not, for things like bed surfaces, nozzles/hotends and other parts. I’m also kicking myself for not grabbing an AMS hub a few days back :frowning:

Totally. Especially since the Bambu filament appears to just be rebranded filament I can buy on Amazon right now. The only advantage appears to be getting exact spools and RFID stickers.

Yeah. Hopefully we get some good third party hardware options soon.

It does seem like other regions have quite a bit of things in stock that are out in the US store. EU store seems to have the same issues as the US store, with the majority of their items out of stock, but the Global store (direct from China) pretty much has everything in stock. Canada has almost everything and every filament in stock (only spools appear to be out). UK and AU stores are similar. Is this an improvement or the norm? Is US/EU demand just too high?

I wish I could order from a different region and pay for extra shipping. I’d even order direct from China and wait some extra time if I could, particularly on hardware and replacement parts.

But hopefully it’s just supply chain issues and eventually it will sort itself out.

I got an email from Bambu Lab customer service saying stock should be back up by the end of the month. (End of Feb)

Looks like they updated the website and some more items are showing their in stock dates.

Still waiting on dates for the belts.

All colors of ABS refills and PLA basic and matte refills were back in stock. Seems to be dwindling now.

Nearly all filament still sold out. I see a lot of people are seeing filament in stock is there different t stock levels for different countries?

I think yes. There’s different stores, with each store with its own stock.

Today check(Feb14th) = filaments are completely sold out. It is obvious these guys have a lot of technical experience with building of very good product and very good approach with fast learning curve for improvement and enhancement, but warehousing is not their ''cup of thee". There are a lot of alternatives on filament market but those reduce my AMS to just expensive 4-spool holder. If they are so horribly failing to deliver they should certify other producers of filament or simply release RFID chips. I love idea to buy only refills but they do not allow me to send my money to their pockets…

Purchased one spool of black TPU from the EU store this morning at 08:50 (CET) received shipping label at 12:50. And now I notice it is out of stock again.

I really hope they can scale up soon. So everybody can grab what they want when they want as I am also eager on getting a spare set of XY and a Z-belt.

EU store: PLA Matte (Refill) and supports currently available. TPU was available, 5 minutes later both colors sold out.

I just got some pla refills in UK and i love the refill idea the reels. The ID chip is also a great idea. No new company knows how well things will sell so I appreciate until you start knowing your sales and numbers you dont want all your cashflow sitting in filament stock.
