I can’t seem to find the answer, but for 2 units is there a hub required for the H2d?
No clue. Maybe check out BambuStudio? Might be able to have 4 to one nozzle, and 4 to another.
No since on the back of the H2D there are 2 input tubes (since 2 nozzles).
That depends on how you are going to set up your printing. For example if you want to print from nozzle 1 from both of the AMS units then you need a hub. For example if you have a 5+ color print.
Thanks everyone! I have one coming whether I need it or not. lol
EDIT: don’t read this, I was wrong, see the reply to this comment from maximit.
This is one of those gray areas, Bambu Lab RECOMMENDS a hub for more than on AMS on a single nozzle, if you have two AMS 2 Pros, and are using one per nozzle, then you don’t need the hub. That said, many have discovered you can use the 4-in-1 adapter in lieu of the HUB, This might be true, but afaik the individual 4 clutches in the HUB provide an additional layer of functional fail proofing and for my production usage, I’m going with the recommended parts and not someone’s figured out solution. I know I might be spending money I don’t need to, but it works.
I have 2 x AMS 2 Pro on my HD, works like a charm. Each one is connected to one of the 2 inputs and linked with the supplied cable.
Cool. I get to set mine up today. So no additional electric cord needed on the 2nd unit, except for drying?
That’s what I gathered from their typo-filled product pages.
I had ordered cords just in case… so they both got plugged in. Setup was a breeze.
I’ve been trying to understand this.
I have a very old second hand ended 3 and it fails so much I’m now considering P1s, X1C or even H2D. Whilst I doubt I can justify the H2D cost, I like to understand what I’m considering.
What I don’t understand is the amount of support pages or threads where people have a H2D and multiple AMS2Pros yet they put all the AMS on just 1 of the hotends. I can’t understand the logic of this. Could someone explain?
In my mind, the H2D should come with an AMS on each hotend and doing that gives far more flexibility than having 2 AMS on just 1 hotend. But perhaps I am misunderstanding something?
Help for a super-novice would be greatly appreciated. All I really want is for my children to not be continually disappointed when they wake up to find yet another failed ender3 print.
Coming from an Ender 3 (among many others) I will tell you there is a night and day difference in the amount of prep work and calibration you will have to do with any of the Bambu printers that certainly justifies the cost to me.
As for the reasoning behind why many have one AMS on one nozzle: It only comes with one.
I recently got a secondhand AMS v1 and it works flawlessly on the second nozzle as I imagine the AMS v2 does. You can use an AMS or a spool holder on either nozzle.
It is a very tempting purchase. I was a click away from an order with an extra AMS and a bunch of filaments multiple times today.
My confusion was over some online putting multiple AMS on one head and leaving the other with just a single spool. That seemed inefficient. But I may be wrong. I read one thing saying it isn’t good to use one head for both normal filament and the weak support stuff as they can merge and weaken the build. This is unfortunate if true, saving an entire horned just for supports seems a bit crazy. But another use could perhaps be if you always mostly build in white then have a mix of lots of colours with it. I would imagine 2 x AMS on one head and just the white on the other might be more efficient in that case.
I thought I had read somewhere there was a reason you shouldn’t use an AMS on the second (bottom) filament input but the reasoning wasn’t exactly clear?
Can anyone tell me if AMS first series is compatible with H2D?
I would like to mount the supplied ams 2 pro on the right and ams 1 on the left, is it possible?
Thanks - couldn’t find this info anywhere - so I can connect one AMS 2 Pro to the left hot end entry and another AMS 2 Pro to the right hotend entry and then connect AMS1 to AMS2 with the black “power” cable - Yes? -
Can I use both AMS units for drying (but only one at a time) like this or do I need another power supply for the second AMS 2 unit?
Thanks
Yep. You need one power supply. I have two AMS with one connected to each hotend and one of them powered and daisy chained to the first.
Works so well.
I’ve got that exact setup currently. No issues.
I thought thatall we needed was the 4-1 adapter.
Where does the hub go on the H2D?
I have two AMS 2 Pros, one connected without power supply, the other with a power adapter. One goes to the Left nozzle, the other the right. I’ve had 0 problems with this configuration.
