- Bambu Studio 1.7.3.50
- Bambu X1-C with single AMS, both on current firmware.
- AMS holds 4 spools of Bambu brand white matte PLA - none read the RFID tag, so all manually entered - confirmed 3 times that all are identical.
- AMS Filament backup is turned on.
- AMS Update on Startup and Update remaining capacity are turned on.
- When selecting Auto Refill on both the printer and in Studio, it indicates that the AMS will continue to print - showing the cycle of the 4 spools.
Successfully printed one object that used ~900g of first spool. Began second print on same spool, assuming that it would finish off remainder of spool 1 and move to spool 2 when necessary. Checked a while later to an error saying the print had been interrupted.
When looking at the printer, it says it’s on layer 600/1100, which matches z alignment of the bed. The actual print has stopped further down, at about layer 300 - presumably when spool 1 ran out of filament. If “resume” is selected on the error message, the print head continues tracing the print as though it had filament in it. Printer’s Filament screen shows spool 1 as empty, and no spool selected.
Things on the to-do list:
- Power cycle: will do that after I finish printing another one of the first objects to recreate the filament quantity and print environment of failed object.
- Confirm whether Studio is showing the spool as mostly empty before second print on same spool. Depending on what triggers the spool switch, a false reading here may be causing the switch failure. Doesn’t explain the continuation of print when out of filament. Will restart again with forced
- Reseat physical connections of AMS to X1-C.
- Disable, re-enable Filament Backup
Wondering if anyone has encountered this in the past, has any workarounds or additional suggestions for things to try.
