Second, I apologize if what I posted was already known. I am new to AMS.
I got the AMS Lite about 10 days ago. It gave me happy times but it also gave me a fair share of frustrations.
I was under the impression that AMS Lite multi-color on the same layer was limited to 4 colors on the A1. Today, after downloading the latest version of Studio (v2.8.2.60) I gave it a try. To my surprise I was able to do 6 colors on the same layer: 4 colors in the AMS Lite and 2 colors assigned to the External Spool. The colors assigned to the AMS changed without my interaction. When it came time for the colors assigned to the External Spool the A1’s display prompted me to feed the filament until it stops and when it finished with that color it prompted to pull the filament. The only things that I had to do prior to starting the print was to use the Preview to write down the color order, so that I know which color I feed manually when I am prompted. Also put a check in the Print multicolor with External. Would be nice if Studio would add that to the prompt.
Here is that first try at this… 6 colors (dark gray, purple, yellow, green, red and gold) on each of the first 2 layers.
