AMS loads to the Extruder and then whines before Failing

I only use Bambu Labs filament and my AMS can load and unload on all slots but occasionally I get this issue where one or more of the slots is not able to fully load the filament all the way to the extruder. It gets there but at the end it makes a whining noise and if I am able to manually push it an inch into the feed from the AMS then it loads the rest of the way.

I tried simply replacing with a different roll and that seems to fix it mostly. However, I need to know what sort of maintenance I need to try to fix this so all the jobs print without intervention.

Try this if you haven’t already.

Challenge accepted. It seems like 100% of what I feel is going on but cannot prove. I am going to test out your fix and report back.

I can confirm the issue at hand from some of my previous printers.
Teflon tubes are a great thing but they have to match the need and the filament.
The radius going into the head is far from ideal, some for the chain system holding the tube.
Over time the teflon starts to wear and deform.
In this kink this results in excessive friction.

For one of my previous dual head printers I abuse bicycle parts to overcome the kinking issue.
On this particular printer the lid had just about 4cm to spare to the head.
And with the teflon tubes I got jams and consistency issues with the pressure.
Without them I had the filament break often thanks to the rapid movement of the heads and not much space in the corners either.
I use those brake lines after pulling the wire out.
The outer metal sleeve won’t allow for any serious kinking while also making sure the inner teflon liner can’t deform either.
Bit of a pain to squeeze them into a mount for a tight angle but works great.
Had to use some PU hose though to make an adapter sleeve to fit into the push fittings…
