AMS not detected after latest update

This morning the printer notified me that there was a firmware update for the AMS. I let it go, and when it was done I printed a thing, no problem.
When I picked up my print, I noticed that the AMS lights were flashing red, and BambuStudio tells me that the AMS is not connected.
I restarted the printer and disconnected/reconnected the ams cables, but still red blink.
Any idea how to solve this?

I’m not sure how to fix it, but I have a similar problem. I did the latest firmware update, and it failed at 97%. Rebooting the printer shows that it is on the latest firmware, but the AMS needs to have it’s firmware updated. I’ve tried a dozen times to update the AMS firmware, but it always fails at 97%. The AMS is now not detected, and there are no lights on it. I have double-checked the cabling and even tested the pins on the cables and they measure fine on the multimeter. I opened a ticket with Bambu support, but it has been 3 business days without a reply so far.

I also tried to update my AMS firmware 00.00.00.28 to 00.00.06.44 yesterday, same issues.

I tried to do the update directly from my wifi connected X1 Carbon and through Bambu Studio. Same Error.

Having the same problem but ams has no power now. Tried to downgrade firmware but getting failed from the app, desktop, and printer itself.

Same thing after the failed AMS firmware install my AMS is dead, no lights or will it grab and advance filament.

I sent them a support ticket, and received an acknowledgment so I’l in wait mode.

Everyone with this issue should send a support ticket. The more tickets they receive the better chance of them assigning more resources to correct it.

We just submitted a ticket also

Yikes. There was another thread about this too. I’ve been refusing the update prompts since this new version because I’m working on a project and want to keep working on it. Now I’m so glad I waited. Hope this gets sorted soon. It would be nice to know what is causing trouble with the updates.

Edit - I did the update and it went fine for me. Somehow seems to have made the AMS units a little smoother? Once I got some breathing room if the update didn’t work, I risked it but it was fine.

Yes, hold up on this one. Follow this thread, I’ll post any updates.

same problem after the proposed update for the AMS firmware 00.00.00.28 to 00.00.06.44 gave me the error (0x0700 0314) Since then the AMS is not detected, the white lights do not turn on. I opened a ticket, we are waiting for assistance :crossed_fingers:

FYI,

I received a reply to my support ticket. Based on the photos, video and description of my problem they determined it to be a issue with my AMS main board. They asked me to reply back with my personal info so I’m assuming they will send me a replacement main board to swap out.

I’ll report back to confirm that this is the case.

Again, anyone with this issue please fill out a support ticket and include detailed photos and video of you error message. It seem this issue can’t be fixed with software.

Oh no! For what it’s worth (not much) AMS firmware version 00.00.06.44 seems to have worked OK for me …

… but now I’m real nervous about hitting that new printer firmware update button. Here goes nothing …

Oh boy!

  • Power cycling
  • Whew! Everything still works
  • Trying the printer firmware update again …
  • Failed again.

The current firmware version does say, “(Latest version)”.

Anyway, this doesn’t seem entirely related to the issue raised in the OP. Maybe it’ll help someone figure something out. If not, sorry for the “noise”.

Wow, weird.

I’ve been doing firmware updates on devices since the mid 80’s so I know the cardinal rules. My AMS bricking was a first for me

That’s very good information. I’ve now moved from not updating because it might brick to updating so can make sure no problem boards.

Thanks!

Same issue here. Just bought it today and did the update and it’s now broken. I disconnected the AMS and did the firmware update for the printer itself and it all went through just fine. Tried to update the AMS again after the printer was updated to the latest version(01.08.00.00) and was still stuck at 97% and failed

Looks like 97% is the magic number.

FYI…

Received a support ticket message confirming that they’ll be shipping me a new AMS main control board to swap out.

Still not clear why this happened. I think I’ll be in “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mode on firmware updates for a while

Still waiting to hear back from them. Definitely don’t think I’ll be doing another firmware update again. I’m just thankful I only did it on one printer and not all the others lol.

Heard back from the support team. They think I need to swap out the printer MC board and the AMS MC board even tho my printer itself has been working fine

Has anyone had success in swapping out the MC board?
