AMS not swapping to same color when empty

Hello,

I purchased the Bambu P1S with the AMS 1 month ago. I’m loving it. However, I cannot figure out how to get it so swap to the same color if the color runs out.

I added 2 identical black Bambu PLA filaments into the AMS. I do have the “AMS filament backup” checked in the options. The Filament section shows both the black “Bambu PLA Basic” in the list in different slots (when I asked it to sync). They appear identical here.

So as far as I can tell, I have it all setup perfectly.

However, when the black filament runs out (it pulled the filament till it got stuck on the piece of tape at the end of the roll)… it immediately started unloading that filament. When 90% of the filament was unloaded, it stops then starts loading the same black filament (from the same spool) until it gets stuck on the tape again. It then unloaded it again, and then when 90% was unloaded, it started loading it again. This continues forever. I never get a message in bambu studio that there is an issue.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Because it didn’t “ran out” per sensors, only that it got stuck on the tape. If you’d cut off the filament so it went through the sensors detecting run-out, it’d pull from the next spool.

So if the tape is the problem (which makes sence), how do I fix this? The bambu filament seems to come with the tape everytime. I do a lot of prints overnight and can’t always be around to see the end of the roll and remove the tape. Is there a solution to this?

See

And associated thread. I guess, every time you encounter issue with the tape, the correct way is to complain to customer support so they know the issue is still there and maybe they’ll find even better solution than tape or kinked filament-end (maybe integrated cutter)
