AMS pro unable to feed filament issue

Hi, does anyone have had similar feeding problem with None-Bambu PLA rolls?

The issue goes in cycles:
Prints would stuck during printing, had to pull out the fillament from the AMS; The tip of the fillament wire would have a small mushroom shape that stops the feeding.
I used sissors to cut the tip clean, feed it into AMS manually, hit resume to continue printing for a while.
20 layers, or could be 50 layers later, same issue again and repeat.

More info:

  1. I was using Elegoo PLA, and Overture. Because they delivers over night(Amazon) and I needed that speed.
  2. I tested 3 rolls of bambu basic PLAs, on 3 slots at the same time for 4+ hours, did not stuck.
  3. I tested lower nozzle temperature of 200 Celcius and opening the door while printing. still had the issue, not sure if that improved the chance.

Anyone have any clue what does it happen?
Or using bambu fillament only is the way that I have to go?
Thank you

I would check the filament unwinds from the roll smoothly. Sometimes the winding is too tight and the AMS can’t pull it out. Also for non-Bambu spools, check it spins freely on the AMS rollers, sometimes the spool shape is weird. For cardboard spools also check the cardboard rims are not damaged.

Overture are a good outfit, and part of Polymaker. I haven’t used Elegoo much, cannot really say. In any case I find reliability is easier to track to indivudal models, not brands. Every brand has at least one lemon.
