I’m running 3× AMS units on 3× P1S (one AMS per printer). A while ago, all of them suddenly stopped auto-detecting filament information, and I haven’t been able to fix it since. They all run with the same software version because I updated them together.
Here’s what happens:
The AMS does recognize that a filament spool is inserted and pulls it in slightly to adjust. But then it stops — it no longer rotates the spool or tries to read the RFID chip. This happens with different Bambu Lab spools (with RFID chips), on different AMS units, and in different slots. There is not a single case or combination in which in behaves as intended.
What I’ve already tried:
Checked Bambu Studio settings (detection for newly inserted filament is enabled). Reset everything, reinstalled Bambu Studio, unplugged AMS units.
Opened a support ticket, but no solution so far.
I also noticed that I can manually force detection via the circular button in the app or in Bambu Studio — that works. But as far as I know, the AMS should automatically rotate the spool and attempt to read the RFID whenever a new filament is inserted. Am I misunderstanding how it’s supposed to work, or is something wrong with my units?
I know this isn’t going to help, but I am having the same exact issue with my one and only AMS (version 1). I am on the latest firmware and software. I have rebooted it, cleaned it, checked all the connections, etc. Also I have confirmed the auto detect filament check boxes are enabled as the OP shows above.
I have the same symptoms. After insertion the spool, it only spins about 3/4 turn, none of the slots recognize any of my Bambu rolls. Also I noticed with the non-Bambu rolls, the AMS no longer pulls the filament all the way in and out.
I am almost certain this started with one of the last two firmware updates. Otherwise the printer works perfectly with the exception of me having to manually add the type of filament used. As a side note, syncing filaments in babmu labs now takes 2-3 more clicks, so what’s up with that?
If anyone has any fix or suggestions please let us know. I have opened a ticket with BL, but no response name two days in. Thanks!
I have been having a similar issue. The AMS is displaying/reading the filament spools correctly (all bambu filaments and spools) but the Labs software is not displaying the correct filaments in the Prepare tab even after synchronizing with the AMS. If I go to the Device tab on the software, the filaments are correct, but the system throws a fit when I go to print because it insists that the filament selected does not match what the AMS is saying is in that slot. It does seem like this is a recent development. Wish I had something helpful to add for your issue, but I don’t see any other posts dealing with this!
Same exact problem. It’s worked great until a month or so ago. It’s gotta be a problem with their latest firmware… or bambu subtlety hinting to buy the new one lol
I think this is a software or firmware related issue since all of my printers and ams started behaving like this at the exact same time. it must be related to an update. however bambu lab send me some replacement sensors. I will keep you updated
