The AMS2 on my brand-new P2S has a clicking noise issue when feeding filament during printing. It makes a loud click every few seconds, depending on print speed and how quickly the filament is being fed. The clicking can be heard whenever the spool rotates to feed filament. It seems to originate from the oval black spring-loaded knob inside the AMS unit (AMS hub idler lever) or somewhere around the 4-way splitter area. I can feel the hit or vibration when I touch this knob. You can see it is moving slightly, but I do not think that this is a knob hitting the plastic, which makes this sound. All PTFE tubes are properly installed and do not move. The sound is quite loud and disturbing, even with AMS unit closed and all 4 spools installed. I tried different slots and they all make the same sound. Changing the PTFE (it is brand new anyway) did not help. I never had this on my AMS v1, it was really smooth and silent. Any suggestions? I am having the exact same issue, brand new AMS with only a couple of prints under its belt.It just started making this noise today. I made a forum account just for this issue, and haven’t found anything about it yet.
I raised the ticket with Bambu, but have not received any answer yet. I will keep you updated. It looks like smth is misaligned inside. Other users confirmed that it does not sound normal.
I got a new motor (I had another issue), but it did not resolve the problem. I think the general consensus from other people, is that this sound is normal. This was not present with AMS1 (as it did not use stepper motor at all), so it can be disturbing and confusing.
One of mine is clicking as well. I do not think this noise should be considered normal as it did not do that when new. The H2D I put it on only has 250 print hours. I’ve just noticed it though after switching from 0.4 to 0.6 nozzles. Perhaps it is skipping occasionally when trying to push the filament faster. Maybe the current for the motor can be adjusted in firmware Bambu?
Just got a brand new H2C. I recently used the .06 nozzle as well. Been printing some shelves with .04 nozzle now. I noticed the exact same noise that is shown in the video here on the AMS2 Pro. I can feel it when putting my hand on the rubber release button above where you feed the Bowden tub from the AMS to the printer. Whether this has anything to do with the .06 nozzle prints I have no idea.
My prints all come out great, but this sounds like the gears skipping. Can you please give advice on this Bambu or if anyone found a solution. I did not notice this sound on my other prints.
I did somehow resolve the noise. I unloaded and reloaded all the AMS 2 Pros filaments. I ran a Print calibration in settings, also did the motion accuracy calibration (I am using the vision encoder) and then redid my induction hot end Rack setup and the noise has stopped. I am printing the same model with the same slicer settings and no more noise. Not sure why it worked though so take it with a grain of salt. It is worth a try though good luck.
Currently experiencing the same issue straight out of the box. Brand new AMS2 with the P2S. Don’t know if anything got resolved or any replies from tickets yet?
Did you buy another AMS2? What printer are you using? The sound is coming from the backlash in the assist motor. It appears to lack sufficient torque and skips back after the filament feed.
I believe the user who was able to resolve the issue above has an H2C, and there is a known and different issue with the filament buffer spring being slightly stuck in H2 series. This is not the cause of the clicking in my P2S, and I already changed the filament buffer anyway. The video clearly shows the problem. I am considering building a soundproof enclosure or migrating back to AMS1. This clicking sound is really annoying.
I also tried an external power supply, but it made no difference.
mine makes that exact noise. both of the AMS do. Unless I keep getting duds lol. If the printer wasn’t in my office I wouldn’t care but it is. I tried doing everything the other user said and it made no difference.
This is the issue I was referring to with the H2 series, but this is a buffer problem, and in our case, the noise is coming from the assis motor skipping steps.
I posted on FB and people insist its a normal thing. mine doesnt have that button click out like the video. also my H2C is maybe 4 days old at this point and has done it since day 1. I will say… the new AMS wasn’t as loud but it sounded nuts when it would real in the filament so I returned it. Also I’ll add… I bought a AMS HT and it does it as well. So I’m not sure at this point lol.
