My “demands” have been met.

I wanted a dry box to store spools of filament in that was better climate controlled than the floor. Check, got it.

The spools are in a dark, cool, dry, place. Check, got it.

While the RH on the floor pogo’s at the whim and will of the weather and human activity, the RH in the box is stable and the spools are giving up any moisture they may have gained in loose storage simply due to exposure dispite control measures.

Any spools brought out for projects will be dried in my AMS units further with Bambu Labs drying criteria. Presently my spools in use are being held at 12% and 13% as of right now.

If you need any more specifics than that, I’d suggest you go and do your own research. I’m not, nor ever was here to compare nuts and bolts, SM, Med, or Lg dehydration units.

I opened a conversation on a dryer box with active humidity control for storage of filament stores not in immediate use. Others may have their favorites. I simply wanted a better storage. Got it! :wink: If it isn’t someone else’s ideal, fine, it suits me.

29-25% RH is still a better atmosphere than an open shelf or stacking system in a swinging 20 to 45% RH. The point is to allow the spools to be stored and if any humidity in them is given up it can be removed. I’m not looking for sub-micron removal here. If I was, it would be a tank with vacuum storage.

Just the best reasonable device without mortgaging the house for something ridiculous for my needs. (I consider trying to store 30-40 spools at 1% RH to be excessive.) If I need to retrieve a spool from the box, I’ll take a look at what balance the RH of the box is at the time of opening it. Otherwise, I’m not concerned if the thing is working, running hot, or anything else. If it is lower than ambient, the purpose is fulfilled. It isn’t the kitchen refrigerator where everybody is pawing for a soda or a water, standing with the door open and blindly staring at the milk bottle. It’s just a box to store filaments in between uses to keep it preconditioned for my AMS to further dry and hold for use.

That looks like a billy bookcase with oxberg glass doors.

Am guessing the filaments are on dowels or pvc pipe with printed brackets to hold said dowels. The door latch is also custom.

It’s also kind of pointless as a drybox given how non-airtight it is, but I think it’s just storage.

I think you may have misconstrued my question as directed at you. It was meant as a reply to DWdesigns, the post immediately above it. I’ll amend it now so that it’s more clear.

I’m happy. My “demands” (my hopes) have been met. It is dry and drying. That was all I hoped for.

I don’t, and never did, expect it to take the whole pile down to printable levels. Just to take it lower than the swinging ambeant we all experience wherever we live.

No misconstruing here. I’m done, I’m happy, and my cabinet is working as we speak. If anyone wants one, I can offer my blessings on the purchase. If anyone has some lofty or unrealistic desires maybe the $2800 box would be better. But for me, for my needs and desires from my ability to store 40 spools (when and if I get so endowed) my dry box is doing what I hoped for.

All of the pictures I have shown are IKEA cabinets. You can install different doors or glass panels.

Most of them are slightly modified versions, such as additional filament spool holder. To find them, simply search for ‘IKEA’ at MakerWorld.

Not pointless, but…

I also assume that it’s just for storage, but as you can see from the picture, vacuum bags were used on the bottom shelf. The filament you use all the time probably go on top. The spools that need to be stored for longer go on the bottom shelf.

…and that’s totally fine, if someone just want to keep filament organized.
