Annoying "rattling" noise A1

Hi everybody, I seem to have another problem with my A1 …

There’s a metallic “rattling” noise coming from the left side of the Z-axis-gantry. Almost sounds like there’s a loose screw / nut in there, but I already checked everything in sight.

The strange thing is that the noise all of a sudden disappears when I touch the lead-screw.

Any ideas what this could be? I’ve already opened a ticket, but the support couldn’t help so far and now they haven’t been responding for a few days. I’m seriously thinking about buying a new A1 and selling the old one on ebay as “broken”, because the sound is so annoying and the printer is sitting right next to my desk. :frowning:

Here’s a video → https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1jcLs2eBJnw

Thx!

I don’t own an A1, but looking at pics online…I don’t see the part I marked in Red, what is that…??

You also said the noise stopped when you touched it, but that isn’t in the video.

I don’t know which part you’re talking about to be honest, but everything is stock on this printer. I didn’t change anything.

The grey piece that looks like a truss.

That’s the original part that connects the X-axis to the Z-gantry.

Can nobody help with this one? :frowning:

There’s still no solution from the support. They send me a lot of questions and two gcodes which performed some tests, but nothing worked so far. That’s really frustrating. :frowning:

I’ve had the same rattling noise everytime when toolhead moves fast.
The solution for me was re-tensioning the belts, it sounded like the rattling sounds came from the bearings.
It’s also possible that you have a lose screw behind the heating assembly, they weren’t tightened enough from factory for a lot of people, but don’t over-tighten them, there are 4, but i would guess if that’s problem you should also encounter some Z-banding.

I’m not sure which sound you are referring to, is it the click/ticking sound?
If it is, then that is probably the retraction of the filament, the extruder changing direction.

Hi, sorry, the notification mail for this thread landed in my spam folder and so I just saw your answer now.

No, that’s not it either. I already checked that when I read about it in another topic.

In other news: BambuLab send me a complete new Z-axis frame and so far the problem seems to be gone. Let’s hope that it stays that way.

Try to remove dust cover for Y axis, is that helps?

also have the same problem. now it doesn’t effect the print but my days is it annoying.

I have the exact same problem, it feels like the lead screw on that side is loose on the top though? Is anyone else noticing the same on the noisy side? I haven’t taken it apart yet to look

My A1 is only a few weeks old and I am also having this issue on some prints.

The same problem just popped up on my machine. Any solutions?

Open a ticket. Bambu send me an entire new Z-Frame and now the noise is gone.

i think thats normal, mine does it too

I have the same problem. I contacted the bambu lab distributor in my country. I wonder what they will do to solve my problem. I hope they send me a new Z frame like the other friend.

You wouldn’t, perhaps, have a poop basket attached to the printer?

I have traced the rattling I hear when printing on my A1 to the vertical piece of metal used to eject a poop post-extrusion.It’s the one with the “teeth” on it in this picture:

When I lightly touch the metal part while printing occurs, the noise stops, and when I remove my finger the noise resumes. I believe I can see the part vibrating during the printing which would likely be the source of the rattling noise. I have a ticket open with Bambu Lan support on this and another A1 issue (severe nozzle dragging). I will try to come back here and provide an update once they respond.

Did you try to tighten the screw…?? You had to install the wiper when you put the printer together.
