Any more info on those RC kits Bambu was showing off at the show?

Lego ‘Mindstorm’ for the 21st C
I’m hoping that what with their background in DJI, they are developing their own system?
Will they be releasing STL or OBJ files with the dimensions of the drive box?
Will there be ‘attachment’ points?
Would be nice if we could control the drive unit with USB
Any info appreciated.

I am also eager for these.

Imagine if @BambuLab said here have one of these kits for free because we screwed up your order, that would calm the masses, it wouldn’t make things right, but, it would be far less wrong!

I’ve tried looking closely at the videos but haven’t been able to glean much. These could enable all kinds of interesting toys & I’m really looking forward to getting one to try out as soon as they’re available.

I’ve seen some great RC toys designed with 3d printing over the years.
Be great to have a ‘print in place’ scaffold model released that would allow folk to modify and attach meshes to the ‘framework’ and that would fold around the controller box when printed

I 3D print parts for my racing drones and other Radio Control stuff all the time. You can print an entire RC airplane with a 3D printer. If this kind of stuff interests you, there are tons of options available on the market for these kinds of projects, you don’t need to wait for BBL to spoon feed it to you.

The main reason I’m interested in Bambu doing something, is that it creates a de facto standard, that everyone can pile onto.

I remember someone saying “a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.”

It isn’t about being spoon fed, it is about convenience and standards.

Something to build off.

I agree there are lots of RC projects out there, yet, no one stop shop yet that anyone from beginner to expert can get everything or just what they require.

Yours look great and I imagine you have been doing this for a while. Many prefer instant pay off of print, add a few bits and play.

I prefer cars as I can barely see things on the floor let alone see things buzzing around. Being able to design the models and the controllers and each working with the other would be a great starting point.

Many might regress to your evil and passion, many will stay at the shallow end.

All should be welcomed though without barriers.

This

And this.

Those are the things being sought,

So then, something like this might meet your objectives…

That looks great.

I would have no chance though as too much glueing and the parts are often tiny.

My hand tremors wouldn’t permit it.

I am hopeful for a base system that people can attach their own designs to that do not require glue and has a universal remote that we can also customise with multiple channels.

This way, I can design parts that my disabilities can cope with.

Super agree, similar to the Mouse Kit contest, imagine an RC kit contest, the entries would (be rampant with insanity) but man oh man, people would BUY BUY BUY those kits and filament to make their RC car dreams come true. Even just printing your own cars or cars you’ve had for funzies in the same color as the real one, I mean the Knight Rider, and DeLorean models would be crazy popular, and existing models upgraded to use the RC kits would explode. Gimme!

I’m not looking for a ‘hobby’, I’m looking for an ‘eco-system’

Ditto! RC cars, boats, planes… So many possibilities

I’m sure it’s been mentioned

But I’m not excited about designing stuff for random other kits, when we know that around the corner there is going to be a universally acquired kit on the platform

I’m in the process of trying to convince Bambu to get clicky keyswitches (respond to my emails @Makers_Supply !) because even my simple fidget clickers can be outdone by whatever random eBay key switch the person might be able to purchase

I’d like to design and use parts from maker supply so it’s uniform and accessible

There are a plethora of RC 3d printing kits around. But makersupply is about streamlining that process

Also please please please @MakerWorld when you drop a contest for this kit, make it a single entry, because we all know that there is going to be people dropping slightly sinilar shells when really it would be easier to have a basic framework and everyone designs an awesome shell for it and entrants will go for quality over quantity (also less contest abuse)

/grumble

I’m with you 100%, I didn’t buy a printer to buy more stuff. I rather reuse/repurpose things for myself.

A contest would be sick! I’ve got some RC cars from Walmart I’m about to gut and go at with some calipers for my next model. A universal model for a contest would be amazing! I’d have stuff to print for a month. My filament addiction would get worse. Okay guys, don’t tell my kids I’m spending their inheritance on plastic.

I don’t see how a random contest on a random website affects that use case :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there any update to when the kits are coming out?

Most likely with the release of the new printer.

That’s what I was thinking. They’ll do a Steve Jobs… ‘one more thing’

When is the printer coming out?
