I’d like to use 0.2mm on the surface and 0.6mm inside(infill).
Is babmbu labo planning to provide this update in the future?
Push for that! This (software) feature would be a so huge benefit for the H2D.
They want to but Dr Tao recently likened it to non-planar printing, extremely difficult to program. They’ve come up with some solutions that work for some geometry but not others. They want to figure this out but it’s not easy and will not be quick
In my case i want it for write small letters/details, with the 0.4 nozzle. Some keychains need 0,2 only for write the name of the person or company.
If they want to enable this feature with the software update (this feature is only software but maybe Bambu doesn’t want to “loss” time making this software development).
Slicer code for 0.4 and 0.6 for different projects on same printer, different times, would be big bonus for production printers. No need to swap out nozzles for next project.

This is the only thing keeping me from buying one. If they enabled this, I’d buy one right away! Wish there was a way to get more traction on it.
Of course everyone wants it, Bambu themselves want it, but it’s not a printer problem, it’s a slicer problem period. As soon as that problem is solved, and I expect it’s just not a Bambu problem, the industry as a whole will move with it.
Came here to say much the same. I have a “base color” loaded into the left and a “highlight color” in the right. 99% of my model is printed in the base color, and I’d like to be able to print that with a bigger 0.6mm nozzle to speed things up. But the highlight color is used to print some small embossed text, and I’d like to use 0.2mm for that detail.
As it is currently, I have to compromise with 0.4mm in both nozzles – so slow print and not great letter detail. I tried 0.2mm in both but the print time was 6+ hours for a simple model.
Another push for this topic. I have use such approach on a Stratasys Dimension where the nozzle used for the support material is bigger than the nozzle used for the model. It is also a use case I was looking for and maybe easier to deploy.
That would indeed be such a nice feature…
can at least use the 0.2 and 0.4 maybe, in case they need to keep more walls closer dimensions as the 0.2 is half the 0.4
Can anyone here explain how printing with different nozzle sizes is better, as opposed to just, novelty and “options”? Besides being potentially quicker, because print cycle time isn’t an issue anymore (there are other ways to solve that which are simpler). There are also simpler ways to solve quality issues.
Jryan15 says the lack of this “feature” is keeping him from buying a printer, and although an extreme opinion, I’m not “buying it” that there’s any logic behind that, or in general holding out for this functionality.

The smaller the nozzle size, the better the fidelity, especially for text. But you probably don’t want to print the entire model in 0.2mm because of the time penalty. So, the dream would be to use it only where it matters. As i see it, that’s the motivation behind the request.
Do you buy that, or still not? If you know of an alternate way to get the same benefits, what is it?
At least for the special case of printing text at 0.2mm on top of an otherwise finished top layer, seems like it would not be that hard to implement. I’d take that as something that’s better than what we currently have for larger models. What about you?
Im hoping this capability will come with the H2C release. I would love to use 0.2 nozzle for text/first layer, and 0.4/0.6 for rest of the model.
Text is a great reason to have the ability to do switch nozzles. Print using the normal nozzle then when it comes time to do the text, print it with the smallest nozzle.
If somehow we could at least get an option do change nozzles according to layer to at least be able to do text on a top layer or first layer using the smallest nozzle. At least that would be a great start.
That could definitely be a perfect start.
And enabling a lot of experimental options for other areas would be a good idea also.
Ultimaker has this for years. In my last job I was printing with 0.4 and 0.8 nozzles at the same time on S3. I hope there is not some a license on this and Bambu implement it soon.
At tis point I would be happy to just print specific layers with a nozzle size. I don’t see why this would be so difficult to achieve?
For example, if I have a coaster with a coloured logo on the surface, I want to be able to flip it (so logo prints on the bed) and print the first 2 or 3 layers in 0.2 for the extra detail, then the rest of the coaster can be standard 0.4. Hence I’m not mixing nozzle sizes in the same layer…
