Are all Bambu Printers stuck in 2.4GHz Wifi?

My computer refuses to stay in 2.4 Wifi, it always reverts to 5GHz and it makes connecting to P1S a chore…

Is there anyway to update it to 5GHz?

No as this is hardware limitation. (There are workarounds like using wifi device which acts as 2.4GHz-5GHz bridge)

But I’m not getting what the problem is. Is your computer acting as Access Point for your bambu printer and you have no separate hardware for AP?

In typical scenario printer connects to AP using 2.4GHz, computer connects to the AP using 5GHz and everything works since this is the same LAN.

Perhaps disable 5GHz on your AP/router. You’ll get longer range with 2.4GHz too.

Assuming you’re on Windows, you should be able to set the preferred band to 2,4GHz. You can find that option in the properties of your wireless network adapter

The other solution is to change router settings to use separate configurations for each band, so you can set a different SSID for one of the bands. This should allow you to have full control which band should be used for any device within your home network.

One being 5 and the other 2.4 really shouldnt matter here. If you do want to force it though, does your router support separate SIDs? In most cases you can make a 2.4 only, and connect both to that. I really wouldnt bottle neck your other devices for this one purpose.

Thanks for all the help.
I was having issues with my computer connected LAN router I was using as a relay. My wireless still connects to only the 5G signal bands of my internet connected router hence why I couldn’t connect to the P1S.

I just disabled the relay router and connected directly to the same router as my printer.

The X1C uses a Ampak AP6212 WiFi module. The AP6256 does 2.4/5 up to 802.11ac and should be (potentially, unless they connected pin 5 to GND) a drop in replacement from a hardware perspective. It glues up over SDIO, just the same, so the kernel driver changes should be pretty minimal to make this work. If/when I can ever post a new thread, I’ll provide some general info about some of the common complaints/frustrations around the X1C and networking.
