I have the same issue: never do I have a boost to give. It’s because I don’t really print other people’s designs anymore, just my own. I get boosts from others, so I know they still exist.
The system is broken. Simple as that.
For example, the last 3 weeks, I have printed 2 models from @UkDaveWood and have been working on the 3rd. Both 60 plus hour prints.
No boosts to give, although I want to give him 100 if I could.
I am a good 50/50 between my own models and others. Still, lasts boost I got were from pairing machines.
I think it depends a bit on how “random” a person finds it’s models and prints them. When I print other designers stuff it’s usually quite random or search related, but not by followers or such. This way I always got the weekly boosts when i printed other peoples stuff. At least if it was things that took a bit longer to print.
I just find it sometimes a bit annoying that it recommends things to boost that I just looked at but didn’t print. I mean if I see a random model I want to boost because I love the designers Idea but didn’t print I’ll do it in my own, but I would prefer if the “boost recommendation” list (when a token is about to expire) would be limited to the stuff I recently printed.
I miss getting boosts more often. I managed to get 1 randomly last month which before that I hadn’t received one in 10 months.
I’m not exactly sure how they rate models on how “ambitious” they are, but I guess it’d be nice to know exactly how models are weighted? Probably wouldn’t change how or why I print things, but it’d be sure nice to know.
Now if they’d just keep Maker Supply parts in stock, it’d sure improve my willingness to print other peoples stuff.
Current week:
2 token received
- printer ran ~10h avg per day for 7 days
- ratings: some with feedback, no photos attached
Last week:
2 token received
- less time spent printing
- ratings: none
Some weeks before last week:
NULL token received
- printer ran ~16h avg per day for 7 days
- ratings: comprehensive feedback, photos attached
I normally get 1-2 tokens a week. I print quite a few things from makerworld weekly. The last 2 weeks, I have received 0 tokens. Not sure what’s going on, but I have several people I want to boost but there’s nothing I can do.
I got a boost token to hand out this week, after printing a profile that took 24 hours to print last week.
Current week:
2 token received
- printer ran ~6h avg per day for 7 days
- ratings: no written feedback but 5 stars, no photos attached
Current week:
THR33 token received
- printer ran ~4h avg per day for 7 days
- ratings: no written feedback but 5 stars, no photos attached
I had no boost tokens to give since about end of last year (between September and November by my calculations). Also, for those who use the “send to printer” button instead of the “Print” button in the slicer, sending the file to the printer and printing it from the printer display, does not count as a print and the creator does not get rewarded. And since it doesn’t count as a print, boosts are not given.
Need more testing. If someone wants to test it too is easy. Slice a model, send to printer and in the printer display press to print the model. After it’s printed, it’s not possible to rate it because the system does not count it as a print.
Feedback is welcome
The same, i receive last boost token in December 2025. No habit changed. I print almost every day from January 2026 (from MakerWorld or own models), rate, post pictures, print aprox. 400hours from December. The result ZERO boost tokens. This will probably lead to end of complex model makers… and the MakerWorld will be full of stupid getgets and AI generated mess.
I get too many boost tokens. Last month I got 13 and this month I got 7. Maybe it’s cause I spend all my boost tokens boosing Virrgott’s conveyor belts. I just find them so cool.
Are you sure you are not making this up to try to get people to boost that model?
. As far as I know, a user can give the same model a max of 2 boosts and a max of 5 boosts per year to the same designer.
I find it unlikely. There were only 4 weeks in February, meaning that the max would be 12 boosts (3 per week).
This part is not factual. There is no limit to how many boosts you can give a designer as far as I know, or the limit is higher than 5. I have 12 boosts towards a single designer and there was nothing to stop me.
Not trying to get people to boost that designer just a big fan. However it’s just that his models are very complex and I think makerworld said something about giving more boosts to people who boost complex models.
This was the last time I heard about the 5 boosts limit. Has it changed? When?
@Striderman1 So you were able to give more than 2 boosts to the same model? If you were, rules must have changed a lot since last time.
IIRC, we were told that the cap of 2 boosts per model and 5 for the same designer per year were to prevent boost trading.
I have no clue if and when it changed. I just know I gave UKdavewood 8 boosts last month and it didnt stop me.
I think the other guy is referring to a series of models, not a single model. The 2 boost limit is definitely still there.
Really 8 boosts to 1 designer?
…I understand as I’m now on a mission to build a purge waste table. Thanks!
I can’t give more than 2 boosts per model, but the 5 yearly cap doesn’t seem to be there anymore. I gave 7 to the same guy last year. (I was exaggerating when I said all, but it was over half)
