Are these thumbnails AI generated?

If you need AI to do arguing for you…

Anyway, to be on-topic, since you’re arguing minutae instead of core issue: why do you think it’s OK to mislead users with generated cover images that have no direct relation with model user will download?

"since you’re arguing minutae "

A bit hypocritical, no?

“If you need AI to do arguing for you…”

Go ahead, finish the sentence

Not sure why this comment was hidden or reported, the ad hominem attack was on me

I missed a big chunk of this mega thread so apologies if I missed some context.

  1. Unless the sample is statistically representative of the MW populace, it doesn’t matter if it’s 40 nays, or 40000 yays. We can’t extrapolate either figure to represent the entire MW populace.

  2. If the metric of concern is downloads/views/points, then the likely development is “may the best marketeer wins”? Going by history and other types of media, this tends to be a race to the bottom

  3. This is probably why MW started schemes such as Featured, Contests, Boosts, Ratings and Collections etc, in the hope to layer on higher modelling standards.

  4. This forum is meant as one of the avenues to give feedback to MW. If the bar is that any feedback must first be the majority’s view, then I’ll say it’s an impossible huddle to cross.

Well, it’s healthy to discuss this kind of things. Me, personally, got tired of “hitting” the same person over and over again without any results because said person only sees points in front of him, instead of user loyalty. Already explained this in a lengthy post somewhere above.

What i am not liking at all is the implications of what that said user said about having inside contacts with Bambu and with that, being able to bend the rules as they wish without any repercussion, even when confronted with it in some comments. But those comments are reported and deleted because it brings negativity. Cool right? @MakerWorld has been responding to many topics but ignored this one since it started and never assured users that they don’t have “preferences” towards certain creators. And even if they had, they should at least be honest about it. If that creator can do it, then everyone could do it too! Should we all start deceiving everyone? Of course not!

I’ll let this discussion go onwards to see where it goes in the future but to everyone here, don’t expect that user to be “penalized” because downloads is what brings people to this platform and by my experience, “big” creators don’t get penalized ever.
Just try and then tell me if it worked. Then do it with a mediocre creator and you’ll see them doing what they should with those reports.

In the end, deceiving is deceiving and as told by my own experience, i downloaded and printed that “Moon” model and it was trash and ended up in the bin. Commenting negative in that model gets the rating taken down and the user blocked. Already posted the differences between the moon generated model and printed model above. Wife was deceived and so did i because i wasted filament, electricity and my time.

I don’t claim that this poll is perfect or represents the entirety of the MakerWorld community. It’s simply an attempt to gather a readable data set to help us better understand what people think about the use of certain types of thumbnail images.

The current sample is small, but as more people participate, the results will become more representative. That’s why I’ve invited everyone to share it—including you, if you’d like.

Comparing this poll to Deltaprint’s success, however, is not a relevant comparison. The poll is focused on understanding user reactions to specific types of images, not on the popularity or overall success of any individual creator. Deltaprints was mentioned as an example of someone using AI-generated thumbnails, but the goal of the poll is to understand broader perceptions in the community, not to critique one creator’s visibility or success.

High-frequency details in these images are generated poorly, almost aigc. Maybe he fed photos or model screenshots into ai.

Let’s use a different AI and see how the comparison with doping in sport is meant:

Gemini: The discussion about the use of AI tools in creative areas is complex and requires a differentiated view. The comparison with doping is a helpful tool for understanding the challenges and opportunities of this development. It is important to weigh up both the positive and negative aspects and look for solutions that ensure fair and inclusive competition.

AI is sometimes wrong because it cannot recognise deeper connections or mistakenly bases the answer on facts that were not written and/or were not meant that way.

You’re just spamming now. Being a contrarian can bring new viewpoints to conversations, but your off topic tangents seem to have an agenda. I’m sorry I’m blocking you now.

Another case that is starting to do the same AI generated stuff. People start to see how easy it is to dump fake pictures and generated models for easy rewards and start doing the same. Just as an example because there are more blatant examples

That tray is like a one sketch 2 extrusion tray.

I don’t mean to dog anyone for sharing models, even if simple. It does kind of get me in a way though. I’ve seen varying levels of quality, but some of these do feel a bit phoned in. Like the main bit is the ai generated image, and everything beyond that is an afterthought.

Can I understand this thought/argument.

People don’t care if they’re being fooled, ergo it’s ok to fool them?

People don’t care if they’re lied to, ergo it’s ok to lie to them?

That means, if you posted a real print, and people didn’t like it, the print is trash.

So I see why one would want to post an AI cover and bury or not post a real image.

I don’t think Honest Creators would do that, ergo a dishonest one would.

Did ya look at the profiles of the one?

This one is not bad either in it’s own hyper photorealistic render style. Zero real photo

The thing that chips my paint is… we don’t have to.

People want and need housewares, even simple two extrusion models. It doesn’t have to be this shady venture.

I mean, there’s other avenues of creating catchy display images besides using AI generated images that differ from the actual models.

I will say though that people seem to think that just because there isn’t direct complaints, that it isn’t an issue in people’s minds. There’s tons of times in life I just cut my losses and move on. I don’t feel the need to go and complain about it all over the internet. Like I don’t buy Ubisoft games, and I don’t go on their forum to complain about how much I dislike them. I just… stopped… buying their products.

I’ve dealt with mediocre and misleading models and have been disappointed. I generally don’t make a big deal about it because I just move it along. I guess according to some, since I didn’t complain, I guess it didn’t mean I had a problem with it? Except I did. I only talk further about it here because we’re discussing it as a group.

I do have a lot of trust issues with shopping for certain products on amazon because of these types of issues. Because it’s difficult to feel like I can trust the reviews, that I can trust the images and all that, that are clearly and badly photoshopped. My own experience of having sellers try and bribe me to take down bad reviews, just makes me further not trust the reviews of most top pick products on amazon.

Those products can work, but I do realize how garbage they are. I’m not even the only one. I’ve talked often enough with others how their top pick are often suspect.

Rule #1 at Amazon. Read only the one and two star reviews. Look at the dates. If something shows up repeatedly then you know it’s probably true.

I don’t complain in profiles either. I simply delete the rate link and move on. I really like how it’s implied that IF the ratings said they hated the AI pics the guy would take them down. Everyone knows there’s two reasons for the pics in the first place. Mislead and laziness.

Yeah. Looking at them while reporting them.

Some of these recent discussions made me realize the extent of production I put into each project. I mean, that’s my own choice, obviously. It is a curious thing to consider though. I wont stop. I am here to bring wild ideas to life, and that can’t always be done so simply.

I had no idea that change/key trays were such a needed item in this world.

It seems that is the case. How many keys does someone have? How many soap holders does one need at home? my tray didn’t work out at all, even being a “satire”, but i am no big dog with 10k followers
