Backup solution when AMS has problems with feeding during print

My question is whether there is a backup solution if the filament stops moving from the AMS to the printer during a print. Backup such as manually switching from the AMS1 to a roll in the AMS2 or manually switching to the external spool.

Background:
I had a print where in the middle of the print the filament was finished. No problem, new roll inserted into the AMS and the print should have continued. This time, however, the AMS had a problem feeding the filament to the printer. Trying and trying again didn’t help, removing the PTFE tubes and reinserting them didn’t help either. The filament did not want to go to the printer.
Now I had 2 options:

  • Cancel the print (bad solution, as the print is lost)
  • Take the AMS apart and check if there is a problem.

So while my printer was running and waiting for new filament, I had to dismantle the switched-on AMS and check everything. Then reassemble it, plug all the PTFE tubes back in and hope that the filament can now be fed correctly to the printer.

It would have been good if I could have told the printer that the filament was coming from the other AMS or from the external spool. But that is not possible. Or is it?
