Bamb Lab will launch a flagship in Q1, 2025

Poop inside take out later not really a problem to make housing hermetic for ABS. There are cancerogenic fumes, they need to stay inside and collected or moved outside without getting into the room.

Edit: sealing would also prevent outside cold airstreams coming in like opening window or door.

I was eagerly waiting to order until this “security” fiasco happened. I won’t even buy their filament until they come clean and do a 180 with apologies.

Arm yourself with lots of patience. There’s little chance that Bambu will ever do what you expect them to do… let alone “apologies”… Tao went that far in his gaslighting of the entire user community, by accusing those who have spoken up and argued against what Bambu was doing with its security firmware patch, as misunderstanding, misrepresenting, fearmongering … or simply put, those people are liars, stupid, with an intelligence barely reaching the troglodyte level, daring to dispute what comes from the very mouth of “Tao the PhD” and his bunch of similarly minded fellas

So is their really no hard date still this late in the quarter?

Any updates on the H2D? haven’t seen anything new in the past few weeks.

Actually, there wasn’t any update from Bambu’s side since last year, during Formnext '24 event in Germany , when they kinda sorta “let it slip” the launch will be in Q1/2025. When exactly in Q1? Well, I guess your guess is as good as mine. But if they don’t launch before mid-March , it could mean they are still having problems with their new flagship printer.

I must say that i am still quite excited to see what they come up with to vault past the X1C and other newer printers.

Will there be a way to be more precise with how much filament remains?

Will the Slicer be able to warn you that you do not have sufficient filament left on a roll to print your doohicky?

Will it be at least 350 mm on x, y, z?

It must have the quick hot end change, but will it be better somehow?

How will they upgrade the hot end?

It must have a LAN port, but will we be able to cut the reliance on the cloud without losing capabilities?

If they do “offer” a subscription, will they also offer a perpetual license?

If the subscription occurs for the new printer, will they be able to sell to individuals and hobbyists, or will they try a new market of only commercial purchasers?

If no subscription, will the love come back or will people get even angrier?

Will it be faster?

Will they have newer filaments to go with the new features?

As others have asked, will there be a more robust filtering system?

More than one extruder?

A new but backward-compatible AMS?

An upgrade path for X1C owners to get the new features other than the new size?

So many questions, yet so little information.

I shall await impatiently but with big hopes.

but, nevertheless…
dream big

The QIDI Box ist until now only marketing material. no official release. I would not buy anything build on promisses.Even the Plus 4 looks good it has its flaws.

After reading so much about all the speculation and guesses to this new printer from bambu labs that may or may not be released in Q1 2025, i thought of writing my own too.

Bambu labs has to release a biger printer with at least 300 cube print volume. Everyone know that because otherwise they cant compare to there competition anymore. The apple like invironmant (software and hardware) they builded up until now only gets them so far.

Bambu labs selling points are high quality prints out of the box without tinkering with flow rates and other stuff. There AI stuff and auto bed leveling helps a lot with that. On the other side, with Maker World they have content for non professional CAD designer to just print stuff.

If as consumer you dont want to play around with bed temerature, flow rate and stuff there are basicly only one other company i know to call a real competition to there selling points and that is creality. They are catching up fast and have the biger printers. Sure i know there slicing software is not comparable to bambu labs, but you also have the option to use others with that printer if you want to.

If you are a professional and are able to play around with printer settings you have more printer options you can choose from and even get better printing results. (Most of the time with much slower printing speed, but thats not the point now). Remember that was not what bambu labs was focusing on with there selling points.

Now they say they want to release a prosumer printer. What would that entrail?
Stuff consumer printers dont normaly have. There are 3 things i know

  1. higner precission, specialy in the Z axis.
  2. heated chamber to print complicated materials
  3. dual nozzels

So if the new printer is prosumer, it at least would need to have 1 of these 3 functions included, because that is what professional printers have otherwise it would not qualify as a prosumer printer.

Bambu labs has a patent for dual nozzel prints and also has the “E” series with heating chamber. So it would be rasonable that there new printer has both. A heating chamber and dual nozzels.

So why do they not just say it will be a professional printer? Because likely there printer wont be as good as a professional printer with there “Z” axis precession.

But that is not everything they anounced. They are talking about something “revolution like” for there next printer.
You can interpret that 2 ways.

  1. that revolution like what they are talking about is the dual nozzle and heating chamber for consumers.
  2. they have a surprise for us with something no printer has up until now.

But i dont think you should hope for that surprise developemant and stay realistic.

There is one last thing bambu labs could give us with not too much problems and it is not something within the printer.
If bambu labs listens to its costumer, they will release a AMS with a heating and drying chamber.
Why? Because to design something like that is not to hard and it would fulfill the wishes of the users and show them that bambu labs is trying to give you what you want.

So… now i have to also tell you something i fear you guys wont take lightly after writing so much about 3D printer stuff and specualtions.

I dont have a 3D printer and never had one…
But i really want to get one!!!

havnt found any flaws on my plus 4. Heres some PAHT-CF. My most trouble free printer

But the QIDI Box does not exist yet and has not even been publicly shown.
That was my point. Especialy when comparing with Bambu Lab that is a big point.

Well the next gen bambu is only a rumour at this point too, so that’s not very relevant

Also not everyone does multicolour… even though I have a few AMS I never print multicolour as it’s way to wasteful for me, what I like is to have readily available filament options at a reasonably controlled humidity, and the spool carryover when one goes out.

This Qidi has looked very interesting, not perfect of course as there isn’t such thing, but the quality I’ve seen around from the prints is really great, and it’s a pretty good price point too.

If there isn’t a new Bambu by April, one of these will definitely be making its way to me

AMS is not only about multicolor, but also about material change and use up all the filament to the end and follow with a new spool.
No waste if you think that way.
QIDI has newest Klipper and maintain their printer well.

that is what i mentioned  that’s how i use the AMS, it’s a nice to have for sure, but doesn’t take away from Qidi’s current offering without it… also a lot of more complex materials don’t really play well with the AMS anyway (at least not this generation), so it’s often a better solution to be running from a filament dryer into the printer

A friend of mine has the QIDI Plus 4 and is very happy with it. Especially the heated build volume. If somebody prints a lot of ASA or ABS it is combined with the bigger build volume a huge improvement.

Same here. I got it for the heated chamber to play around with higher temp materials. PETG, PC went without issues whatsoever. I then tried Qidi’s PPS-CF, thinking it would be quite a challenge with what I considered rather fast defaults.
Turned out the defaults were spot on, resulting in a couple of near perfect benchies. Most boring print ever  :+1:

What I miss on the Plus 4 when compared to my X1 is the auto-filament calibration. I am unfortunately unable to calibrate a filament as well as my X1’s Lidar using manual methods. It is still good enough, just not as good as a measurement better than (my) human eye.

What I do particularly like about the Plus 4 is both the larger build volume and the narrower melting chamber. While this prevents significant flow rate improvements with high flow hotends as on the P & X series, it does mean that extrusion control is much more direct. Pressure Advance is not a factor with the Plus 4.

So I am hoping that Qidi does succeed where Anker failed and is able to offer an AMS soon.
I am a bit worried about the tighter bend when going into the print head as there’s some serious snagging there, but nothing that looks unsolveable. It’ll be very interesting to look at some higher temp color combinations (PC,PA) without having to resort to questionable methods to increase chamber temps.
I’d be hesitant to put PPS into a Bambu style AMS (immediately) though as it plays in a different ballpark and I’d be worried about it breaking in the bends. Maybe just slot 2 and 3… With the PTFE path minimized… And as straight as possible… with a hex key at the ready…

This helped with the ptfe bend. I pulled the ptfe tube out of the loop on the cable chain.Has vents on the sides too.

Hi @StreetSports ,

Many thanks for this. :+1:

I had come across this riser (or a very similar one) when browsing MakerWorld for Plus 4 mods and did indeed think that this may become neccessary when/if Qidi releases an AMS.
It is good to know that it does give the PTFE the room it needs.

Many thanks and my best wishes,
Eno

Bambu should take this to heart. and not cater to the haters that envey creators and try to have lagit models taken down. so dumb
