Bambu H2D Full Reveal – Everything You Need to Know!

I will wait for the P2S/X2C, I don’t need a cutter or a laser. I do own a laser and I will say I’m concerned about the interior parts especially the movement system.

You’re not required to buy the laser

If you only want to use one AMS 2 Pro you don’t need the hub and it comes with one 6 pin cable. If you already have the original AMS or you want to use two AMS 2 Pros you will need the hub. You only need the power cord if you want to use the drying feature.

There is sensor on the door. If the door is open, the laser will stop.

The H2D is a multi function device. I was just making a comment in general. I’d prefer a better standalone printer with less addons that could complicate things later.

Thanks. I suspected as much but it is good to get it confirmed.

I want to see the advanced 3D printing features moving to X2C, too. I will get that when it comes out.

But I now also see something in the complete H2D package that could be valuable to designers. Adding engraving and cutting does open another door to more complex designs that incoporate parts and materials not available by 3D printing.

Although designers can make such products using 3D printer and standalone engraver and cutter, they will miss the convenience of having the whole process (3D printing, plus engraving/cutting) setup done in Bambu Studio/Bambu Suite and therefore have the settings/profiles ready to upload to Makerworld for users to easily make the product.

Hmm

Unfortunately, I have to admit that the H2D won’t be finding its way to me in any of the available versions. Upon closer inspection, I see that the dimensions would have to be slightly different, and I’d be looking at an X-Tool M1 Ultra, which can also 3D print. And since I already have a laser and a film cutter, I’m out of the question when it comes to the H2D.

They won’t miss the smell that their laser-engraved or cut parts add to their 3D parts, though. Laser engraving and cutting stinks, and I can already smell past engravings on my recently cleaned engraver. It’s impossible to get rid of.

I just hope people know this isn’t going to be as smooth as they think it will be. 3D printing in its current state is safe and reliable, but wait until you start seeing new owners of the H2D asking if it was bad that they cut some styrene or PVC…

With the way people have gotten more relaxed about remotely monitoring my 3D prints (myself included), this isn’t that. The moment someone walks away while they’re laser engraving and something goes wrong or a material starts on fire, there are going to be issues. I don’t see it listed in the specs, but unless they have a way to stop or alarm a user of a fire, I’m concerned.

This is all stuff to give food for thought.

Hey good news to the A1 peeps like me! The AMS 2 pro will be compatible with the A1 in Q3!

The tarnish in the honeycomb and particles that get collected on the air nozzle get everywhere.

Before my wife gave me the P1S for Christmas, I had for many years owned a $300 CtC brand Makerbot clone with dual extruders. Ignoring the fact that I never got it to work very well, it did sort of set an expectation for me that a fancy system like the Bambu should have dual extruders by default and I was very surprised the first time I tried a 2-filament print, just how appallingly slow (and wasteful) the filament swap was on every layer :frowning: So slow, that I’m not seriously considering ever doing multi-colour prints with this system other than maybe some text on a horizontal face, as long as it’s no more than 3 layers deep!

The P1S was way more expensive than I was comfortable with paying and I would never have bought one of these myself. So there is no way I can foresee ever buying the new printer at a price that’s double what I couldn’t justify in the first place. (I’m lucky my wife is so generous and pays attention to my grumblings about how hard it was to make anything of any significant size with the Makerbot! - and to our niece and partner who recommended the Bambu). So now that Bambu have finally got on board with this old technology, is there any chance that some day a dual extruder upgrade will be possible for the P1S?

Honestly I’d be surprised if they did. They want you to buy new printers, not upgrade the old ones.

I have questions on if the engraving and cutting will gum up the gear/moving parts of the 3D printer. So yes, I want to see how it goes after people have had time to use it for a while.

There is emergency stop, and buzzing alarms. There is also the optional CO2 fire suppression system that can kick in in case of fire which is monitored by sensors.

It didn’t make much sense to me to be able to use a 300 mm printing area when printing with dual nozzles.

As an owner myself, I can guarantee you it does not 3D print
