Bambu Handy Filament Runout

Before you let spools of filament run out in your AMS, please have a look here:

The issue is the way Bambu is securing filament to the spool hub with tape and the propensity that has for pulling the tape off the spool hub and ingesting it into the AMS filament feed mechanism.

Filament used to be secured with the filament tail poked through a hole in the hub. That was causing some people problems so they switched to the tape method which seems to cause a lot more problems.

Anyway, see if you want to risk ingesting tape into the filament path, gumming up the filament feed gears, and ultimately even pulling tape into the extruder. Some reports of that as well. Anecdotally this seems to be a bigger factor after drying filament too since it seems heat helps set the adhesive and make a stronger bond to the filament.

The AMS filament failover works great except for that one little detail.
