Bambu Lab - Add firmware and hardware to GitHub for issue tracking

Bambu Lab has a GitHub account and repos for Handy and Bambu Slicer.

Bambu Lab should also create a repo for firmware and for hardware. They don’t have to have any code it them, but they can be used to report issues, request enhancements and track them. It provides a huge service to the community to be able to see what is happening, easily find out the status and see if something has already been reported.

Forums are a great place to discuss and support each other. Sharing what you learn and such. However, forums are a terrible place to report issues and there is no tracking on forums.

In contrast, requests directly to tech support are private and I would reserve them for something is broken, what do I do right now, or the printer I received is defective. Support is not a good place for feature requests and such. There are cases when both GitHub and support overlap, such as an issue that is preventing use of the printer. A support request is needed to get the problem resolved immediately. A GitHub issue lets the entire user community know about it and lets them monitor status.

In addition to creating the two new repos for issue tracking, please make sure to post in announcements and any other place that would reach users to let them know that Bambu Lab · GitHub is the place to go to report and check status of issues and feature requests. I frequently respond to forum posts, both on the Bambu Lab Community Forum and on the Reddit Community to direct users to the GitHub projects.

Great suggestion! Creating separate repositories for firmware and hardware in addition to the existing ones for Handy and Bambu Slicer would be a valuable addition for the Bambu Lab community. Having dedicated repositories for issue tracking and enhancement requests provides transparency and allows users to easily stay informed about the status of reported issues.

Forums are indeed useful for discussions and support, but they can be cumbersome for issue reporting and tracking. By utilizing GitHub’s issue tracking system, users can efficiently report problems, request enhancements, and monitor their progress. It also enables the entire user community to be aware of the reported issues and contribute to their resolution.
